While this is a beautiful historic hotel in a prime location (which is why we chose it) close to the forbidden city, tianaman square, etc., the service was not up to the normal raffles standards. our bathroom upon check in wasn't clean and continued to not really be clean through out our stay. We wanted to stay another night and were told we couldn't do that at the front desk because we had booked 'through a travel agency' -- the internet. so we had to go back to our room and book an additional night over the painfully slow internet. we should have just walked down to the grand hyatt and checked in there - that seems to be the place to be. or found an out of the way hutong! There was also painting going on continuously outside of our room in the hall. The spa is also to be avoided at all costs. My other complaint is that when you are paying extra to have a 3rd person in the room it would be nice if you were to also get a third bottle of water and an extra towel. argh!

Room Tip: rooms in the main building are probably better. we were in the auxillary building and overlooked a c...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your feedback following your recent stay with us at Raffles Beijing Hotel. We appreciate and value the time you have taken to share your experience with us on Tripadvisor, and your feedback will help us to continuously improve our service and facilities.

First of all, we would like to thank you for having chosen Raffles Beijing Hotel as your preferred accommodation in Beijing. However, we were disappointed to learn about the challenges you experienced with our Front Office and Housekeeping departments regarding cleanliness, guest amenities and booking procedures. We understand that our guests expect their room to be immaculately clean regardless if staying at our heritage or auxiliary building.
We are certainly taking your comments seriously and we have addressed your remarks with all departments concerned. Also your note regarding paint smell we have internally discussed with the Engineering team in order to find a solution.

At Raffles, we strive to provide every guest with the most comfortable experience, but we seem to have failed in meeting your expectations on this occasion. We do hope we have an opportunity to welcoming you again.

Sincerely
Hotel Management

Raffles is pretty much what you expect for this chain, including a nice high tea. Unfortunately, smoking is permitted inside, which detracts a bit from the enjoyment, even though they try and isolate it as much as possible. Rooms are nice and spacious with a separate sitting area and food is very good. Not as posh as some of the other Raffles properties, but service is pretty good for Beijing. Three hotels are attached in one old building, each with their own personality and you can walk from one to the other without going outside. A bit strange, given they are so different in 'class' from each other, but there are more choices for restaurants and if it is cold outside, it's nice not to have to go outside.

Room Tip: They have non-smoking floors if you are a non-smoker and they are pretty much non-smoking. Some hote...

We picked this hotel because we are familiar with the famous Raffles in Singapore so we could be in a special place in a foreign land and not a typical hotel chain. We were not disappointed. Very hospitable staff from John the hotel ambassador to everyone at the front desk and concierge who were always willing to help make our stay as pleasant as possible. Spacious rooms with nice fixtures and excellent housekeeping. Spacious and luxurious public areas. Location between the Forbidden City / Tienamen Square and traditional main shopping street / large new shopping center. On the wide landscaped main avenue so good access to all directions. Close to the subway. Hotel restaurants pricey, but who wants to eat in the hotel all of the time with all of the restaurants in Beijing available. Not easy to understand why it isn't rated a little higher - maybe a lot of people are more familiar with the well known chains and not as aware of what Raffles is.

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the rooms in the back wing that have the separate sitting area outside of the be...

My wife and I stayed at Raffles for a week between Christmas and New Year. Everything is first class with this hotel. The front desk staff are excellent, courteous and helpful. The room was spotless. The food is pricey, so best to eat outside the hotel. Cabs are hit and miss, but this is outside the control of the hotel. The subway is very convenient and right outside the hotel. Wangfujing, right next door, is a good shopping area - another one which is less advertised and more for local Beijingers is at Xi Dan, a few subway stops to the west.

Room Tip: We had booked a king which was not available when we arrived. We were upgraded to a suite. We stay...

The hotel was beautiful, the location was amazing (right on the subway line and next to the Forbidden City) and the service was excellent.
