The wall here is extremely steep and difficult to climb, with massive variations in the steps. I took my time and was so glad I persisted in climbing. The views were spectacular, and the colours in October stunning. Definitely a tour highlight.

Another item off the bucket list. Photos don’t do this place justice. The incline is so much steeper in real life, so be prepared for a good workout, but the climb to the top is well worth it.

Was hard work but liked that you could do as little or as much as you like. Best months to do it, if not later, as it was cool and not too many people. Definitely need a certain amount of fitness, even to do the first part.

We were taken to this section because it was not as popular as some of the other accessible passes. Well, I can see why! It is a very steep pass to 'walk', a definite heart starter! If you enter the car park and go the right-hand section of the wall, it extends from gate 7 up to 12. You cannot go any further as the path is then blocked off.

Well, it took us nearly 90 mins to get to no. 12, stopping to take many photos along the way as well as catching our breath and pacing ourselves! The view from along the way, and at the top is more breathtaking than the climb itself. And it is certainly well worth doing.

The descent only took 35 mins but you have to be careful as the steps are not of an even height, with some quite high which can be a little challenging if you are short of stature! At times it was easier to go down backward. But there are handrails along most of the steps so just take your time and pay attention to staying sure-footed.

PS. This is not a climb if you suffer from heights, or have any cardiac issues. You need a decent amount of general fitness to go the whole way. Or you can just do the bottom part to section 8 or 9 as you will still get good vista.
