The hotel has a good location for many of the sights but poor service and horrible cleanliness. The staff was unwilling or unable to answer any of our questions. They tried to tell us that our reservation was insufficient for the number of people and up sell us, only to then ask us if we had stolen the fold away bed we had requested in the beginning. The rooms they put us in had disgusting stains on the walls and nothing about the room suggested that they cleaned them regularly. We are backpackers who are used to basic bare bones rooms but this one didn't even provide the basics of hygiene.

We have been staying at the Dong Hua over the last couple of years. Teachers in China, we travel to Beijing and the DH has always been comfortable and nice. Over the last couple of months however, it has hit the pits. A government hotel and no attention or money paid to enhance the place. I woke up this morning with approximately 50-60 bites all over me, my wife having twice the amount. There is black mold all over the room, grease and what appears to be vomit on the carpet. The bathroom coated with pubic hair, the sheets had blood stains on them, tea cups apparently not been cleaning since the MIng Dynasty.

Beware - you get what you pay for.

Was introduce by the travel agent c-trip at the beijing airport(T3). Normally I would shun these agents but the agent spoke good english so I figured why not? I have spent several days in chengdu and jiazhougau and hardly anybody spoke english unless you requested for one and pay $$ or get a travel companion who is well verse in mandrin which I have none. Back to beijing, I wanted a hotel located centrally in beijing near the tinamen square and forbidden city. These place is no 5 star but serves my purposes since I wanted a budget below Y200/day. There is also a english speaking staff at the check in. The room is clean and the bed is comfortable. There is also hot water and you can buy bottled water in front of the hotel. There is also a hot pot in the rooms. There is also a computer(which you have to put a deposit Y100) in room302.- slow but just to read email is sufficient.
The restuarant (Minfuju)is excellent with big pictures on the dishes.. Try the roasted duck-excellent$$. Wanted to taste whats the difference between Beijing duck(at Quanjude)-rumored have been around for 500 years and Beijing roasted duck(Minfuju)... can't tell the difference but both tasted super yummy. Btw, get the hotel or your friends for a WRITTEN note to where you want to go or need to buy or eat... otherwise you would sometimes find yourself meandering around and waste precious time explaining again

Room Tip: The rooms have thin walls. In morning might be a bit noisy

Last week while in Beijing I stayed at the Wangfujing Donghua Hotel.I was most impressed with this hotel. The room was very clean and beautiful ,and the shower was nice and hot.A necessity when travelling,The staff were very polite and friendly and made me feel very welcome. The bed was super comfortable, and the air conditioning\heating was great
The Hotel's location is great, situated near Wangfujing ,and there are nice restaurants and shops closeby the hotel that offer food at excellent prices.I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Beijng.Excellent service for travellers.Andrew

Stayed here for my first time visiting Beijing. The concierges were all very helpful. Taking the cab from the hotel to go site seeing was very affordable. The room was very clean and kept in good condition. I liked how they gave complimentary bottle waters per day. Also gave out toothbrushes, which I never gotten at other hotels that I have stayed at before. The WiFi was spotty, so I would recommend just going to the Starbucks next door to use their WiFi.
