Everything was great. Fantastic location though more than a hour's drive from the park gates! Well maintained property, friendly staff, great food. Improvement required- In room safes, tea/coffee maker and a room fan. Room tends to smells dusty/musty probably due to mosquito netting around the bed.

Room Tip: All rooms are great. Avoid the rooms near the central areas if you want privacy. Senior citizens should definitely ask for rooms near the reception otherwise its quite a long and steep walk to the rooms.

Wow what a place. Amazing location and service. Stayed here for 2 nights at the end of July with my husband and 2 teenage children. Rooms were very spacious and connected which was great for us as we could leave the connecting door open at night and the children felt safe. The views were breath taking, looking down over the plains to the Mara river. Our rooms were 77 and 78 which were on the very end of the row of pod like buildings so it was quite a walk up hill back to reception and the restaurant. I would request rooms nearer reception if you have mobility problems. The food was amazing, starter and main courses served to your table and dessert was buffet self service. Would go back here again without a second thought.

Room Tip: Choose a room near to reception if you have mobility problems going up and down steps.

This is an excellent lodge to base yourself to explore Maasai Mara National Park. The lodge itself is on a hill and all rooms have a window that overlooks the Maasai Mara Plains and therefore wildlife can be seen both close up but more often from a distance from your window. The rooms are on a slop and therefore to get to Reception and Dining area is a bit of an effort due to the incline and the surface being that of stones and steps. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and the dining facilities are excellent with several chefs preparing a variety of meals including good Indian food for vegetarians. The rooms are spacious and bathrooms are excellent.

Room Tip: If disabled, elderly or unwell ask for rooms closer to the reception

We stayed here for 2 nights in July. The rooms are lovely and have all you need for a great stay. A comfy bed, lovely bathroom and a seating area to sit and watch the Mara from the comfort of your room. The decor is bright and cheerful. A room fan would have made it perfect.
The public areas are well presented and the pool area is a great place to hang out between game drives. The staff are lovely and the food is really great.

Room Tip: A torch is useful to navigate at night as the exterior lighting is not great.

You can always expect a certain quality of accommodation and service at a Serena Hotel, and the Mara Serena did not disappoint. Lovely, simple rooms, stunning views (woke up to an elephant outside my window one morning), friendly staff and good food.

We also went on an amazing hot air balloon ride, organized through the lodge, which culminated in a delicious champagne breakfast in the bush.

The highlight - seeing a cheetah and its cub eating a fresh kill.

Would definitely go back.

*I gave it four stars because the shower was a little small for comfort.
