Close to the city but far enough to be quiet except for the noise from the gym in the morning and the housekeeping staff knocking on the door at7am wanting to clean your room this was a nice clean hotel. The shower door would not close so that you created a lake in the hallway as there was no drain in the bathroom floor. Breakfast buffet was good and plentiful and the staff were very helpful. I would stay again no problem.

My boyfriend and I spent one night at Heron Hotel while transitting through Nairobi. It's a pretty hotel with a sentimental feel. Love the Swahili and Arab inspired deco, which takes one back to the good old days. Most staff are generally friendly and the manager very cheery and accommodating. The only negative thing was the lady receptionist who was a bit condescending, asking us if we really booked the right hotel when she couldn't find our reservation in their system. Probably because we were lugging around dirty backpacks from a safari trip and were in slippers and shorts?

The food is tasty and served in generous portions. Breakfast spread has a wide variety that caters to different palates.

The room is clean. A little small and without a view, but very comfortable.

We would book this hotel again, hoping we will be treated by the receptionist well even if we came in dusty, unpressed clothes and unshined shoes.

We had just had a great Camping Safari and badly needed a little bit of R and R before flying back to the UK. The Heron Portico met that need in spades! A lovely comfortable room, great breakfast and evening meal, helpful friendly staff. We spent most of the day swimming, reading and relaxing at the pool. Most of all it was peaceful and restful and we were grateful.

We are a family of 5 and wanted an affordable, comfortable, safe and central hotel for five days. We chose the Heron Portico. Its a gorgeous hotel, run be extremely helpful and accommodating staff who really do go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. The restaurant is great. The outdoor pool which turns into a lovely night time bar is great. Its a great place to stay and we highly recommend it. We would definitely stay here again. Gary

Whilst staying nearby we have brought our tour groups to the Mdalasini Restaurant at the Heron Portico hotel a couple of times now, and had good experiences.

The service was good, the menu quite extensive and the food very nice. The staff were attentive and helpful, and the manager, Branko, was very accommodating. You can eat inside or out on the terrace and there is an adjoining bar too.

The hotel also has the Bashasha café, which is a patio coffee shop that serves juices, pastries, burgers, pizzas etc and is good as well.
