Those who have visited Istanbul or any mosque in Turkish style of architecture will be underwhelmed by this mosque. I found it to be out of place in Cairo; however, if taken in historical context its very much a reminder of Turkish influences on the city and its people. If you have been to Istanbul, you can skip this mosque when iN Cairo.

The place is beautiful, ancient and you feel you are walking through history. It is not very well taken care of though. But it is definitely worth seeing. A music festival is held there in August starting 8 PM , every night till 12 AM. Tickets are for 15 LE per person

The Place is historical since 19 century. It is film of stories to tell and sites to see however it needs huge care and cleaning. I wonder why it is left like that with no care.

amazing place. stunning inside. show respect and keep the noise down - people are praying. the feeling of peace inside was a balm to the noise and bustle of Cairo.

My wife and i spent the morning here, she covered her head and shoulders and wore something long out of respect for the religion. On the day we went there were egyptian school children there, all wanted photos taken with us!. Inside the Mosque it is very ornate and beautiful. Go is you have the chance.
