If you have time, do go to Dahshur to see the bent pyramid. It's worth the extra time to drive out and see.

We went to visit Dahshur pyramids in Jan. 2018. the pyramids are amazingly preserved and you can see the original "white" coverage which is not anymore present in the ones in Giza as it was taken out from locals many years ago.

Dahshur is located in a former military area in the desert 10km far from Saqqara. it takes 1h from Cairo by car to get there.

The absolute pro is that you will be alone there - no people, no rush, just you pyramids desert and the sun.

I went inside both Cheops and the bend pyramid and i have to say that I would skip the 300 EGP visit into Cheops (too crowded) to go into the Bend Pyramid (no people). In both pyramids you won't see anything inside - it's just stones, no paintings. In both, you will need to walk in a very small tunnel (1m x 1m, long 40m inclined) with stagnant air so if you suffer of claustrophobia or can't easily bend your back bone think twice before getting in.

in my opinion, it was a nice experience. when you are in, you actually realize how many stones you have over your head and how massive they are... amazing architecture.

The landscape in Dahshur is desert so also from scenery perspective is really amazing.

The site includes the bent pyramid and the red pyramid (that you can enter). The entry is quite steep and there is little to see inside. I probably would not do it again.

The Red pyramid and the Bent pyramid are located about 30 mins drive from Cairo in the desert. They truly give you the feeling of the original pyramids and are visited by far fewer tourists. You can go inside the Red pyramid, quite a steep descent and not recommended if claustrophic, but very interesting.

The Great Pyramids are great, but everybody knows that, so you're surrounded by all of the tourists and salesmen. But at Dahshur, you get to see the one which failed to make the grade - the Bent Pyramid, which is beautiful despite its perceived failure - and the first one which did - the Red Pyramid. And you get them almost completely to yourself...
