The staff here is to be commended. When we arrived, they said the room would not be available for the night due to a problem on that entire floor. So their car drove us to their 5-star sister hotel, the Sofitel, that is nearby. They upgraded us to a king room with a Nile River view for the night.
The following day at the Novotel, the room was great. Large enough for our luggage, backpacks, and to walk easily around the room, the room was very clean. The bed was comfortable, clean, and its linens and pillows looked new. All the furniture was in wonderful condition. The bathroom was also immaculate, with plenty of hot water and good pressure. All the fixtures worked fine. For being in the center of a city with 30 million residents, the room was remarkable quiet, and the sleep quality was outstanding. There is an ATM conveniently located in the lobby.
The only thing that prevents this hotel from getting 5 stars is their breakfast. With the hotel's French roots, its breakfast was disappointing. Although the croissants looked very French, they had a texture that made us think they had been frozen. We stuck with yogurt and fruits.
If we are ever fortunate enough to return to Cairo, we would definitely stay here again. The location, customer service, and room accommodations are wonderful and well worth the money!More
