If you're looking for fantastic views of Cairo, truly helpful and friendly staff, cheap prices, and a safe place to lay your head at night, this may be just the place for you. However, if your mood can be altered by broken glass in the entryway, irregular elevators, walks up grimy and dark flights of stairs (elevator stops two stories short of the hotel but doesn't always make it that far up), and overall dinginess, you may not want to make this your choice for a stay in Cairo.
We were particularly disappointed that our request for ensuite bathrooms wasn't honored and with the way that was handled. We'd known we had shared bathrooms the first night, but weren't told until the second day, when we'd already packed up everything to move, that we weren't really going to get to change rooms. When later in the day, someone in our group was having a bout of illness, that shared bathroom problem was a real inconvenience.
The shared bathroom was, happily, kept clean with a fairly dry floor, and the ceiling fans, while wobbly, did seem to really cool the rooms on the very hot days we spent in Cairo.
