It was a nearly three hour train ride through unending slums and poverty that encircle the pleasant and clean premium city of Myanmar.

This is the easiest way to see what life in rural Yangon is like ff you have 3 hours to spare. Go the Yangon railway station and get on the Yangon Circular Train. You see various people get to board - traders using the train to transport their goods and even traders selling food and goods to other commuters!

You also have from the comfort of your seat see rural Myanmar - farms, markets, shops, houses and smaller towns.

But be prepared to mingle with the other commutators. Most people of Myanmar are civic conscious but be prepared to meet rude ones too.

I also met a number of tourists too. A couple (policeman and nurse) from Quebec, a chinese lady travelling all alone, 3 ladies from california, USA and a guy and two ladies from Singapore.

Most woman use local cooling paste as a facial protection against the elements and UV light damage. I believe its the same paste used traditionally used by indians and is made from sandalwood.

The ride lasts 3 hours, and it could have been as interesting and enjoyable in half the time. Great way to watch people, and nice scenery

Local train that travels round the suburbs of Yangon. Takes 3 hours if you do it all, but you can get on and off anywhere. Only costs $1. We only did nine stations - enough on the hard seats. Good introduction to Myanmar trains if planning a longer journey by train.

What a way to experience the city and its people then to travel on the circular train, you will experience Yangon like never before, a very exciting and invigorating feeling to see locals travel and see and smell the sights and sound of daily life in Yangon.
This is a trip not to be missed, well worth the effort, you will travel out to the rural parts of the city as well as the more commercial areas.
