Nice to relax

Convenient location - just at the epicentre of attractions, if you wish, you can walk to the main attractions. The hotel made a very pleasant Christmas celebration. The service is quite European, the English heritage affects.

Recently stayed 2 nights at the Park Royal hotel as it was recommended by a friend who visits Yangon. I wouldn’t classify it as a 5 star hotel ( 4 Star), but overall was happy with the stay. A few comments:
Location- Excellent, a short walk to Sule Pagoda area and the Strand, a short taxi to shwedagon pagoda area.
Staff- the staff were great, helpful and very friendly, particularly the bell and front desk staff.
Rooms: the room was pretty large, and a little dated as far as furnishings. It’s an older hotel and could use some upgrading. The bed was comfortable, and the A/C worked fine.
F+B: the breakfast was very good with many choices, both Western and Asian, including some Indian and Japanese selections. The lobby bar was quiet and had a good selection of cocktails and beer.
The bar in the basement was okay, a pretty good Filipino band was playing mostly pop songs and were friendly. There seemed to be a number of freelance girls available but they aren’t too pushy about buying drinks.
Gym- the health club was adequate, having treadmills, bikes, weights. The swimming pool was nice.

Overall I liked the hotel, though it is not up to the standard of the Sule Shangrila.

I had doubts about booking here given the few bad reviews, but went ahead based on a good deal for a deluxe room. I was not disappointed room was on a high floor, clean quiet and tastefully appointed.

Room tip: Deluxe room was great and very quiet

My brother and I were here for nine nights. After a couple of days I contracted food poisoning at a local restaurant. I was holed up in bed for the next five days, unable to move much. I had the hotel doctor look me over and this cost about £50 GBP. In any event, the hotel staff looked after me. They provided me with soup etc, anything that I fancied eating, while I was unwell. I was not charged for any of this help or food.
All in all, the staff at the Parkroyal, from the housekeepers to the managers were of the very highest calibre. They could not have been better. I will definitely return here.

Very nice location -as walkable as it gets in Yangon.
Comfy beds, soft enough, unlike typical hard Asian beds. Good pillows.
Housekeeping never lets you run out of toiletries, or complimentary water bottles.
Nice toiletries too -everything you need.
Decent pool, usually not crowded. Massage rooms and gym though I didn't use.
Climate control works perfectly. No hassle with the A/C being too cold, too loud, too close to the bed, etc. That's why it's a 5 star not a 3 star hotel.
Never a wait for the elevators.
Cucumber water and delicious cookies in the lobby.
Fridge available in the room, though no freezer. Basically it's a minibar.
All for less than 100USD per night, which is a real bargain compared with a hotel of this caliber in the West.

Breakfast is among the best in Myanmar. Chinese, Japanese, Indian, and Western food. Not exactly equal to a 4 star Japanese hotel in terms of quality, but for $20 it's an OK value. Better with the 20% discount they give you if you're a guest. And a screamin' deal in my case because they decided to charge me only $10.

The seafood buffet dinners on Friday and Saturday are also a good value with the 20% discount. It's a pricier meal than anything you'll find in ordinary restaurants, but if you want to stuff yourself on quality seafood, this is the place!
