My wife and I had lunch here during our holiday in Yangon, Myanmar. This restaurant is unique due to its architecture, photo collection on the walls and historical significance.

The food was tasty. Service was okay.

Historically it was quite fascinating to visit this architectural remnant of the commonwealth - we visited as part of a small organised tour of Myanmar. The building itself is in good condition and nicely preserved, situated up a short hidden driveway from a main road so you need to have good directions or an informed taxi driver to get you there.

Inside and upstairs you can wander at your leisure around the former office of General Aung San (father of the Nation) and imagine him sat at his desk with his typewriter still in situ. Numerous photographs of him during his time in power adorn the walls and there is a strong and obvious resemblance to his daughter Aung San Suu Kyi.

The building retains its colonial charm including a bath in the gent's toilets (honestly) and is well suited to its new role as a restaurant.

However, this is where the charm ends - simply chaotic, slow and dismissive service, cold food (sent back twice for re-heating) and when at temperature there was very little taste in the uninspiring food - very disappointing. There is a clear and obvious need for better organisation, improved processes for taking orders for food/drinks, staff training and overall customer service.

We were very disappointed and left disenchanted after what could have been a good House of Memories for us but sadly way below expected standards for our lunch.

Interesting history of Gen Aung San and nice meal to go with it. A bit much with the mosquitoes ( even with all of the geckos around ).
Lamb curry and beef curry were done well.
Don't forget to take a pic at the General's desk.

This restaurant has an interesting historical background and seemed to be popular with tour groups. We had a set price menu with some options and the food was very good. The service was somewhat slow but we were getting used to that in Myanmar. The food was all local and generally very good.

As other reviews say, a double fronted faux Elizabethan house style probably from the early 20th century. We hot our hotel to book a table...just as well as it was popular! There are tables in ground and first floors as well as in the garden.
The historic room which was General Aung San's office during his fight for Burmese independence from the British just after WW2 is on the first floor complete with his desk, chair, typewriter and photos from the time.
Normal Myanmar menu choices of food and drinks at prices just slightly higher than usual...which is fair enough for the uniqueness.
