I had a second floor room facing the harbour which was fabulous. I overlooked the bay and the water was quite close by, I could watch schools of fish swim by at night. When I say 'shabby' it's just that the towels are a little on the old side and some of the maintenance is not quite up to scratch. Like the fridge in the room was rocking around and needed attention, I had to 'fix' the curtains myself by getting on a chair and re attaching them to the guide rail. I asked them to have larger mugs available at the breakfast instead of thimble size cups, but nothing, so we would bring the mugs down from the room. Smokers ruined the holiday for some of our group because the smoke kept wafting into their room, the same in the outdoor pavilion area. Smoking should be banned from the hotel altogether, but it's common in Vanuatu. It was adequate, but could do with a bit of a touch up here and there. The staff however were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble, and the food was good. Beds are comfortable.

Room tip: Harbour side is very quiet.

Stayed here for 3 nights. I arrived quite late but this was fine as they have a 24 hour reception desk.

It’s well located nearby all the shops in Port Vila. The views from the pool are spectacular.

The staff are very friendly - every single member of the team was very polite and friendly to speak to. Always happy to help.

The rooms are a tad basic but they are clean and have everything you need except maybe a desk.

The beds are comfortable and the air conditioning is very powerful which is great!

The restaurant and bar is very good. The Happy Hour offers are decent.

My only real criticism is that the windows aren’t fully covered by the panels. The top of every window has no wooden panel meaning the sunlight comes in and wakes you up very early. I was woken up at 5.30am by the sun and the loud birds!

Overall it’s a great hotel and I’d love to stay again. Thanks!

Just like the first time the people at moorings were amazing and great to see a lot of familiar faces including the always smiling Cedric, Jonathan, Chef ;-) Hanna and the girls and guys behind the bar. Can't wait to see you all very soon. Can't recommended Moorings high enough!!!!!

Best wishes

My husband and I have just come home from 2 weeks in Vanuatu staying at Moorings the whole time. Great location, great sea views, good food, good rooms and excellent staff. Special mention to Cedric, Jonathon, Jessie and Hana for their excellent service. Would highly recommend.

Room tip: Best rooms are the downstairs poolside rooms.

The good- very friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms and reasonable location. However pool was too cold for swimming in (it was early July though ) and swimming in the sea area by Hotel did not look inviting and the water not so clean with what looked like sludge on the bottom. The worst though was noise on a Sat. night with a bar down the road booming away to all hours. If you are going to stay try and get room 303 which would be the best away from the noise but still has a balcony opening up onto the deck area overlooking the harbor.
Restaurant food was OK but for the price could be a lot better. Breakfast is basic but free with room, so don't expect to much. With fruit so cheap would have been nice to have had more available at breakfast.
Generally found the Vila holiday a bit disappointing with food and wine very expensive and the restaurants charges similar to NZ prices but not the same quality. Suggest a holiday away from our winter might be better in Rarotonga instead.

Room tip: Get a room furtherest fro bar area- room 303 for example.
