True paradise

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 23 Sept 2023
After 3 years delay due to Covid, the wait was more than worth it. We had seven days in this tropical and peaceful paradise. The villas were luxurious and spacious, as well as being spotlessly clean and comfortable. Each villa had its own veranda with loungers and a hammock. Perfect for lolling, reading and just dreaming of the next wonderful meal, with cocktails. The food in the on-site restaurant is amazing - fresh, tasty, divine, a huge selection with daily changes.

Being able to swim and snorkel right off the beach and jetty was a huge plus. Kayaks, snorkels, masks and swim shoes are all provided. Cycles were also provided for those who want to venture further afield.

While it was tempting to remain in the resort for the entire time, I did a couple of tours with my group of friends. Constance (manager/owner) was very helpful at arranging these to suit the many wishes our group had in terms of what to see and do.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Totally professional in everything. Constance and her husband, Marc, were readily available each day but definitely not intrusive. Constance was a tower of strength during the Covid years, providing reassuring and regular contact throughout, and was a huge help in terms of being able reschedule our visit from May 2020 to May this year.

Constance also kept in touch with AirVanuatu and advised us before the airline that our flight home was delayed. Again, her reassuring help and local knowledge meant we got to the airport at the right time for our rescheduled flight and without having to hang out at the airport for hours.

I 100% recommend Paradise Cove resort. If you're looking for secluded paradise, that is also luxurious and friendly, this is your No. 1 choice. It is like being a billionaire in your very own resort.

We arrived at the resort at 4am due to delays with our flights and we were led to our villa by the night guard who was extremely helpful. We were met at breakfast by Constance and Marc who were visible through out our stay. The villa was cleaned daily and was always immaculate. Food was amazing as well as the cocktails! Staff at the resort were helpful and so friendly. Being able to snorkel from the beach was an added bonus and the children were in the water all day every day. However what we are unable to thank Constance enough, was the help and assistance she gave us all at the resort when Air Vanuatu's flights were cancelled. She called and helped us get rebookings. At no time did we feel that we were going to be left stranded without a room. They were absolutely amazing. If you want a break from the world this is the place to go.

This has to be one of the best resorts I’ve ever stayed at. The resort is located down a very bumpy road which is typical of many areas in Vanuatu…. It’s just part of the experience. Just 15 minutes from Port Villa or alternatively you can take a water taxi directly from the jetty.
We travelled with our adult children and partners. We booked 2 villas and they were as beach front as you can get. Constance and Marc were attentive and very knowledgeable about the area. The staff were all friendly, impeccable, well trained and went the extra mile, it only took a day to get all our drink preferences!
Under Constance’s leadership every member of staff treated you like you were the only guest there.
Villas are well appointed and immaculate. The food is excellent and well presented.
There are heaps of non motorised water sports, kayaks, snorkelling, kayaking and cycling with all equipment provided which is in good order. I also noticed plenty of buckets and spades for the kids.
If you are looking for a boutique experience in a tranquil, beautiful area this is the place for you. It was a great place to relax, recharge and get out and about with the locals.
If you want to be constantly hooked to your digital media and have your kids in the kids club… then it’s not for you.

Room tip: Avoid the big attractions when there’s a cruise ship in town. The docking timetables can be downloaded online.

We recently stayed at Paradise Cove. Constance and Mark are great hosts. Theirs is a beautiful place with luxurious bungalows, great food and a warm welcome. We kayaked and snorkelled straight off the beach and the equipment provided was excellent. Probably the best resort I’ve ever stayed in.

We stayed at Paradise Cove Resort for two weeks in August 2023 and we can thoroughly recommend the resort as a quiet, pleasant place to chill out. A word of warning though; if you are wedded to your electronic devices then this is probably not the place for you: mobile and internet connections are erratic, prone to drop out (although wifi is better near the bar, which may be a recompense for poor connections ) and there is no TV. However, our villa had a selection of board games and a mini library which we made use of. The resort has ten villas situated on the beach front which are a blend of Melanesian and European cultures. Full marks for having adequate storage, plentiful power points, excellent lighting controlled by simple light switches that you didn’t need a PhD degree to work out which switch operated which light, features which seem to be sadly lacking in many hotels. We had a one bedroom villa (number 8) which had a spacious lounge/dining area, a kitchenette, good-sized bathroom, and a very comfortable bed. There are two fans in the lounge/dining area and one in the bedroom which also has air conditioning. Each villa has a private veranda and ours had two sun lounges and a hammock. The villas also have a clothesline if you wish to do your own washing but you can request laundry service. The room was decorated with beautiful tropical flowers.
As mentioned, the resort is on the beachfront with good snorkelling just offshore. The coral has been badly damaged by a previous Crown of Thorns starfish outbreak but is slowly coming back to life. However, the paucity of live coral is made up for by the abundance of many colourful fish and other marine life. If you are feeling adventurous, the resort has kayaks and bicycles available for use by the guests. Snorkelling gear, reef shoes and life vests are also available.
There is an excellent on-site restaurant (reviewed separately) and Port Villa is only 15 minutes away. There is a variety of transport to Port Vila available but, if you elect to use road transport, as the last kilometre of the access road is badly potholed, a better option is a short walk to the right on leaving the resort to another much better maintained road to pick up a local bus. We used a water taxi which the resort can arrange for you which is fast and a lot more comfortable than going by road. However, the charge is per/person so while economical for a couple, it would be an expensive option for a family. You can arrange tours and transport through the bar.
The restaurant mentioned in pre March 2023 reviews was destroyed by Cyclones Judy and Kevin and has been temporally replaced by an open air dining area covered by sails which works very well except when it rains, necessitating resorting to room service.
Constance and Marc are an excellent hostess and host and go out of their way to ensure that your stay is a comfortable one and a pleasant experience. The ni-Vanuatu staff are friendly and obliging, nothing was too much trouble for them.
A great place to chill out and forget about the worries of the world. Go there and experience it for yourself!

Thank you for your kind and detailed review. We would like to clarify a few points:
The Wi-Fi is readily available around the resort including the beach. However, the villas have heavily reinforced concrete walls to withstand frequent earthquakes. As a result, Wi-Fi and mobile phone signals are weakening as one enters a villa. Both signals are good in the veranda and the living room but poor in the bedroom and bathroom. This is clearly explained in the compendium available in the villas.
Finally, there is definitely no TV in the resort. The objective is to preserve the tranquility on the premises.
We hope to welcome you back in Paradise Cove very soon. Best regards, Constance & Marc

Delightful 6 days at Paradise Cove. The resort caters for a limited number of guests so we very much enjoyed the excellent service provided by Constance, Marc and their ni-Van team. Our villa was quite spacious, well appointed and allowed us to relax under cover outdoors or inside when we encountered the occasional rain shower. The grounds are immaculate, swimming off the jetty enjoyable and the stroll to Honeymoon Beach and beyond very relaxing. The meals in the Nakamal (or on one damp evening brought to our villa) were excellent, varied and very well presented, Wines, cocktails - a well chosen selection. We were happy to relax at the resort but enjoyed a visit to Port Vila by water taxi and a car with driver to see more of Efete both organised by Constance for us. Highly recommended.
