Amazingly raw

Arrived at this remote location to be greeted by Eric and the dogs. After what seemed a bit of a walk (when lugging bags) we arrived at the most amazing tree house. We were totally blown away. We have never stayed anywhere like this. The bedroom was at the top of 2 very steep banks of stairs. Not for the feint hearted, also remember in the middle of the night the facilities are in an out back bathroom. We loved it and it was not too difficult for us. At dusk Eric arrived to light the lamps( no electricity) and bought with him a lovely pumpkin and coconut cream casserole. The bathroom is well appointed although rugged but beautiful, it is probably 50 Meters from the tree house. Breakfast was lovely, fruit, breads , fresh juice and fresh eggs which I cooked on the open fire. My only recommendation would be to make sure you have extra food with you for dinner if you are not partial to vegetarian meals.

It’s quite difficult to explain how wonderful it is to stay at « la maison du Banian ». Imagine staying in an imaginary fairy tales house in a tree. It was beautifully decorated, comfortable, every night we were given a lovely vegetarian dish or pot. Every morning a fire was lit before we awoke to a homemade bread and jam, fresh lime juice, the best coffee, fruit salad and a few eggs from the chickens to cook. It was a perfect place to stay in Efate.
