Visited in the first few weeks of opening. Was nice to see something different in Abu Dhabi. Worth a visit if you are into art or modern architecture.

One needs to visit the building only for the sake of seeing this amazing building.
There is this huge dome, 8 layers of ceiling that let certain spots of light to go through and help maintain a certain temperature to preserve all the art that is inside.
Truly inspiring from an architectural point of view.
Inside, we booked a tour...definitely worth it. Our guide explain the relevant pieces in the rooms and after the building in itself.
Very well equipped. Be prepared for super cold 16/17 degrees inside with air con and out back to the heat. Cafeteria, open areas, surrounded by water, temporary exhibitions and well manned.
Very interesting. Especially the last two rooms the most contemporary of all.

The Louvre Abu Dhabi itself is a piece of art; we went as a group to visit the art exhibitions at this new site but were blown away by the building itself. There is a good flow to the rooms with an extensive number of pieces of art work. It would be nice to have more local artists from UAE and the region represented. Also, some of the works seem odd and stand alone. I do think however, the take away is the architecture of the building - during part of the tour, you venture through to the underneath of the building's roof and everyone automatically looks up, the play of light, the varying levels of shadows, designed to mimic light in a date plantation is breath taking. We actually stopped the tour to grab a coffee and just sit under the domed roof to appreciate this mega-piece of art

The Louvre Abu Dhabi is a lovely museum experience. Smaller than other art museums, it feels manageable for a half-day visit. The collection is arranged chronologically and with different cultural emphases. Seeing Whistler's mother was a highlight! With lovely outdoor spaces that feature water, shade and sky, thanks to the amazing design, one can easily move from inside to outside to sit and relax a bit. The cafe offers fantastic food at reasonable prices, with the option of indoor or outdoor seating. The entry fee is modest for such a nice museum, and discounts are available for UAE teachers, older children, and teens.

The line for the multimedia player was long and slow-moving when we arrived at 12:30. While some of the explanations were interesting, not many of the exhibits were included in the player, and the information shared was not much more than what was available on the description cards at each piece. I would suggest only getting one player per 2-3 people or skip it altogether.
