“Beautiful.”
Reviewed 14 February 2012

Worthwhile trip just to get a few pictures. Otherwise not a main destination.

“Neat and pretty”
Reviewed 12 February 2012

This site was interesting but this is not where the Sultan spends his time. I would put it on my must see list if you are going to be in Muscat.

“Muscat Palace”
Reviewed 2 February 2012

The Sultan's Muscat Palace is majestic, overlooking the Muscat Bay. It is the official residence of HM Sultan Qaboos bin Said, but in recent years he hardly resides here. It is a tourist attraction as a photo stop, since visitors are not allowed in the palace.

“Another superb example of modern architecture”
Reviewed 20 January 2012

The Sultan Palace in itself has nothing exceptional. However, the whole area is a great example of a modern architecture, which has kept a local, traditional style. It is also a spotless place with an amazing number and variety of flowers and plants. The Palace is set deep into a small rocky cove protected on both sides by two forts.

“A colorful palace !”
Reviewed 3 January 2012

The palace is huge and isn't open to the public (as the local told us that the Sultan was in residence) however one can go near the entrance to get pictures. It is colored blue to reflect the colors of the sea and yellow/golden to reflect the colors of the sunset (as I got to know). However, if you are lucky to find the route to the backside of the palace from the sea side, you will see some beautiful sights (great for photography). The palace faces the sea and is lined with rocky hills which are topped with forts (which aren't open to the public). This side should be visited and one even passes through a tunnel.
