I reviewed this hotel in November 2016; but this time I stayed for seven nights, which really sorts out the sheep from the goats.
I haven't changed my mind: it's in a perfect location for both business and sight-seeing. I simply booked a single room: but I have a double bed, ample work space, and even a cooker if I want to brew coffee. The room is well furnished, and I have no quibbles (except that an electric kettle would be handy).
The hotel is surrounded by colourful restaurants with great Lebanese cuisine; but if I'm in a hurry I use the hotel restaurant, which can rustle up a good Lebanese dish at a moment's notice. The countryside is bristling with green produce at the moment (February), and even bananas, so it's a delight to eat in-season herbage if you come from Northern climes as I do.
Service is smiling and efficient and -- necessary in this part of the world -- flexible. I've had to change booking dates a number of times, and there's never been a dark look.
One of the most important considerations is a taxi you can trust -- the hotel will not only order you one, it will book one to pick you up at the airport (unless you're a demon haggler this saves you at least $15).
Price? Half what you'd pay in Edinburgh for somewhere only half as good.
As you'll gather, I like this place a lot. 'Hi, honey, I'm home,' I say to the receptionist every evening.
