“A bit of freshness”

After a hot day spent in Tehran, we decided to visit this fresh part of the City. Many nice restaurants and really few tourists. If you want to forget Tehrans noise and traffic, this is the right place to go. Take metro line up to Tajrish, have a fast tour in the bazar then a taxi to Darband. Thats it.

I recommend everyone who travels to Tehran to visit Darband. It is a beautiful, a little mountainous and alive place 24 hours a day. You can find very delicious food in restaurants there, at least you can enjoy a nice fresh tea time there.

Like others have mentioned, you go to Darband to escape from the heat and the crowds. But more for the crowds than the heat.

Darband is beautiful in that it is very laid-back, lots of restaurants and cafes where you can sit down and have coffee, smoke hookah and relax in the chill. I sat in this cafe, on a Persian rug, with water streaming down from the mountain on one side and water flowing beneath me from a stream further up. It was very relaxing, surrounded by locals on the rugs beside me.

The other side of Darband's beauty is that there is a hiking route that goes all the way up the mountains of Tehran where you can see Tehran from the top. It is a long hike and some parts are not very easy to hike up, although there are route directions painted on to the rocks in blue paint. Some parts are very steep, so please do remember to wear proper hiking shoes and bring lots of water, because there is no shade on the route up. The view at the end makes it all worth it, so do persevere at the hike! Darband really made my trip to Tehran.
