Palestinians and Israelis don’t have the same life even if they live in the same town. Israel wants to be a touristic place, but all the identity checks are tiring et doesn’t make you want to come again!

This dates back "only" to the Turkish era that began the 16th century. But it is as close to a feeling of a genuine Roman era city as you can get. The only drawback is that of the hundreds of shops, only a few are reputable. Ask local residents for advice or buy at shops in the new city. Decline or ignore invitations to visit an unknown shop and hear stories of very high quality items.

While you need to walk alot to see everything this is a truly historic and interesting site. In the markets there is a need for more directional signing. More information booths are needed but everyone is very friendly. Need a full day to explore. Plan your stratefy first before going.

It's just a pity, that all the different people with their different believes cannot find a lasting peace solution, so that all can live in harmony. The old city is a MUST having seen for everybody in the world. If you choose the right travel time, you can really experience the different quarters. In February it was not crowded, the coldest month in the year was ideal for sightseeing, still in the 60's F (near 20 C).
