This was my Highlight of the trip maybe of my Jewish roots.
The plaza is divided for men and woman you must wear a kippah once going to the wall if you don't have one one will be provided.
A spiritual happening even more so inside the wall on the left.
Even if you are not Jewish it is a must see experience.
Maybe be aware of certain holidays which can make it very busy here.

I was there on a Friday night when tons of religious people came to pray, dance and thing. I think it's a must place to visit if you're in Israel.

I've been to the western wall twice and the feeling of being there is amazing especially seeing and being with people from different beliefs yet with the same purpose why we are there - to pray.

The Kotel is the most holy religious site for Jews in the city of Jerusalem. It is the western wall of the second temple. Observing orthodox custom women and men have separate areas in which to approach the wall. You will find diverse people from ultra orthodox to tourists praying at the wall. Modest attire is appropriate. Most of the cracks in the wall are filled with prayers and notes left by visitors. There is no entrance fee. The easiest access is through the Dung gate. Security in this area is very visible and high. A must visit site for tourists.
