“Place to stay , and that's it”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 November 2011

Stayed at the Eldan with a group from UK . Lobby , restaurant and rooms very dated . Had problem with electricity in our room but on informing reception it got sorted
with minimum fuss ( 2 key cards
In the electricity slot meant for one ) and it worked .
Breakfast at Eldan a bit boring compared to our hotel in Netanya , why do Israeli hotels provide a ghastly orange and lemon squash , not even a juice , let alone a fresh one !
Room clean , skinny bath , no decent toiletries . Bed fine , our room had nice view of fire escape !
Main reason to stay here is it's position , opposite the king David
hotel, 5 mins walk to Mamilla Mall , worth going to if only for the magnificent sculptures on sale .
Walk through the mall and you arrive at Jaffa gate , entrance to Old City .
Staff don't get red rosettes for friendliness but they were pleasant
enough ... Overall Eldan is place to sleep in , not to spend the day in ,
It's Ok , and that's it basically ..

We saw this hotel in the upper end section of the Lonely Planet, and figured that it would be quite nice. However, upon arrival they had lost our booking, and the two girls behind the desk were beyond rude about it, as if it was our fault. We then returned back there hours later to the room they claimed was 'one of their biggest' as it was for 3 adults, and saw the room in which we could not even lay out suitcases out in. It was also dark, dirty and extremely depressing to be in. We ended up paying for the first night but leaving and finding other accommodation - I would not recommend to anyone who appreciates good service and a nice atmosphere

The room are clean and tidy. Barhroom small but serviceable. Staff friendly and helpful. It was 10 to 15 mins walk to the old city and less to the soanking new Mamila shopping centre. It has it's own car hire place attached, and staying there gave us a 10%discount.. It is 3* not more, but all in all goid value for money..

The Eldan was a quaint hotel walking distance to the Old City. Free but limited parking too. The breakfast (which was included) was great and a quick 10 minute walk to Jerusalem made this hotel one I would recommend.

It was clean, well located, close to the old part of the city. Not really much you can add. I would say it should be two star hotel, it's not busy, full of rather older people.
Breakfast, if you are looking for a decent meal... You are not going to find it there.

There is a car rental next to the hotel, they tried to rip us off there, so be careful.
