The design is really nice, perfectly fits in the surrounding environment of old Fener town. They offer several types of coffee, which are pretty good, but if you want to have just tea there — you shouldn't because it's not a tea, but a shame.

We discovered this nice café walking around Fener and it was like a trip into 30's and 40's. Homemade dessert (we tried apple cookies and carrot cake) and pomegranate tea had given us a good time to relax before continuing discover Istanbul.

Even though very small, its super cosy filled with cool little trinkets and pictures. Very friendly staff, cute cats posing away on tables and very chill atmosphere.

I stopped in here on a rainy day for coffee and a warm place to read and fell in love with it. It's such a charming cafe, with nostalgic decor and vintage items scattered about which will feel familiar to Turkish locals (and probably tourists as well) and old-timey music playing. The food is simple but tasty and the coffee is good; all reasonably priced. I recommend their "kahvaltı dilimi" (Breakfast slice?) as a savoury snack. Or ask what cakes and biscuits they have on offer, either way, the food is good and the staff is more than willing to help.
The cafe is overrun by their friendly cats so keep that in mind if you don't get on with them - although Istanbul on the whole is full of cats anyway. It is also right opposite a vintage shop which I haven't visited, but might be worth seeing whilst there.

Teeny but super charming, Cafe Naftalin sits on a small street in Balat. The Cafe and Antique shop across the street are owned by a husband/wife couple who are warm and hospitable - sit and drink a cup of coffee, or better yet, on a warm day, ask for a glass of their homemade minted lemonade.
The owners speak English fluently, the place is as charming as it gets!
