Our stay at this property was amazing. The best place we have stayed in Istanbul.

The house was perfect. The area unbelievable, lots of interesting places to see and explore.

The only thing I would caution potential holiday makers of is the amount of stairs and walking. If you are unfit or have knee problems this may not be the place for you. It situated at the top of a hill and lots of stairs in house. That said we stayed here with four young children and it was not a problem for us. But may be an issu for some.

Will defiantly stay again. Next time I am in Istanbul.

“Home away from home! ”
Reviewed 20 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

The residence was an amazing exeprience. The neighborhood is vintage and it gave a very authentic experience. Everything is available in the flat. You'll barely need to buy something except for food. Even food was available! It's one minute walk away from a very lively street with delicious Turkish food made by locals. The area around the flat is good spending wise with many small grocery shops and restaurants. The only thing that was a bit difficult is transportations as not all Uber or Taxis drivers will accept to come as close as the doorstep. However, the place that the driver will stop at is only a short alley away from the door, and it's well lit at night. The area overall is safe and the locals are very friendly and comfortable :)!

The Turquoise House is a perfect retreat from a busy day. Well situated on the outer edge of the tourist zone, with all the amenities at your fingertips.
This home is full of artistic touches that make your stay feel personalised and relaxed. And your hosts are always ready to help with anything from arranging pickup from the airport, to recommending the best local restaurants.
The neighbourhood is full of things to explore - from markets, to artisan workshops. And at the heart of it all is the charming Turquoise House.

“Charming Stay in Old Istanbul”
Reviewed 17 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

We loved staying in the Turquoise House in the Balat neighborhood of Old Istanbul! The apartment was beautifully decorated and offered two bathrooms along with comfortable beds and a balcony overlooking The Golden Horn. Ozkan arranged transportation for us from the airport and spent time giving us suggestions about what to see and do in his wonderful city giving us maps and making travel books available. He was incredibly helpful and patient answering our many questions. While the neighborhood is old and "well worn", the Turquoise House's interior is fresh and new. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful. The Chora is a 15 minute walk in one direction, and in another is the Bosphorus, bus lines, and more shops and restaurants. In spite of the recent spate of troubles, we always felt very safe day and night. Staying in this authentic neighborhood gave us the opportunity to connect with the traditional culture of Istanbul, and made visiting a very large city with an enormously rich heritage much more manageable for the three of us. In fact, all of us agree that we would return to the Turquoise House in a nano second!

“Beautiful and comfortable house in old Istanbul!”
Reviewed 28 February 2016 for a stay in February 2016

Peter and Özkan responded quickly to our request, very convenient to let them arrange a transfer from the airport to the house.
They had maps and information about both the local area and the city that was very useful and were ever so happy to answer our questions.

The house is an old building that has been beautifully restored and decorated. The bedrooms were nice and comfortable. Easy to rest after busy days exploring the city. The bathrooms had nice showers. Perfect for longer stays since the house is equipped with both a dishwasher and a washingmachine!

The area is an old residential part of Istanbul, we found it safe and quiet. A few minutes walk downhill and you had shops, cafés etc to explore. Going up and down the hills might help compensate for all the lovely food on offer.
We enjoyed the beauty and comfort of the house, Peter and Özkans committment to their guests enjoying the stay. The friendly people, the food and of course the city itself.
Looking forward to come back soon!
