Its a small bridge but full of character . We walked down from the Spice market and used the underpass to come up on the bridge . You can walk on top or down as well . Top : Full of local folks trying to catch the local fish , very relaxing to see the Galata Tower , The Sulemani Mosque and the Golden Horn . The sounds of the Gulls , The ferry's trumpeting their movement from European to Asian side and beyond , the smell of the sea and fish . On the other end is the Karakoy tram stop and the entrance to the Funicular rail that takes you to Istiklal Caddesi and Taksim Square . Everything in Istanbul is walking distance as well a tram stop away , wonderfully connected. Also wonder of wonders there is a five star well maintained toilet just under the bridge on the Karakoy end - yes and you can pay 1 Lira and use it with your Istanbulkart ! Kudos to the local authorities maintaining this with the thousands of people thronging the bridge . We did not eat at any of the restautants on the bridge but had the most delicious Balik Ekmek or Fish sandwich on the Spice Bazaar end . The closest fishing boat to the bridge . Do it !!
