Angel's Home is a small friendly hotel in a quiet and charming street in the tourist friendly area of Sultanahmet. Very convenient for key attractions: Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi and the Hippodrome which are all adjacent to each other are between 4 and 800 m from the hotel. There is a wide selection of cafes, restaurants, shops, tour agencies and bazaars nearby.
I travelled with wife and teenage son and we had an almost perfect triple room - plenty of space, reasonably tastefully furnished. En suite again well appointed, although occasionally a slight drain odour.
Breakfast was on the rooftop terrace which looks directly on to the Blue mosque behind and over the city wall to the Bosphorous the other way. The view was stunning, the breakfast less so. A chafing dish has scrambled egg and french toast every day. Fried eggs appear intermittently and are left to get cold. Although to be fair they will cook you one to order. Beyond that there is cereal, slightly dry turkish cakes and pastries, olives, salady stuff and uninspiring cold meat and cheese. The coffee was consistently poor and there was no fruit juice. If there was one thing they could improve it would be breakfast. Desk staff very helpful including with check in for flights etc.
I booked through Booking.com months previously and forgot the t's and c's for this hotel which included paying the 70% balance in cash which I did not have at time of departure. Fortunately ATM is not too far. They arrange transport to Ataturk airport both ways if you ask. 25 Euro (not to bad for 3 or 4 people). Journey time 30-40 mins.
