“Amazing deal”
Reviewed 19 April 2012

I got a tremendously good deal for this property on the Stories Apart website. My room was on the top floor, the ceiling was a little low, but it was large, had a view over rooftops, was amazingly quiet for this part of Taksim, and had a good minibar (and a kitchen that seemed mostly decorative, but this didn't bother me much as I wasn't cooking). Everything was new, well maintained, and the service was helpful and excellent. I would recommend this place strongly, as well as staying in this part of town (the living Istanbul) instead of over in touristy Sultanhamet.

Ideally situated to savor the local experience, Stories Apart Kuloglu is a sophisticated, minimalist boutique hotel well suited for travelers seeking to rejuvenate in between exploring their surroundings. It’s just steps away from lively Istiklal Caddesi, but the unique, memorable places for cuisine and nightlife are all on the side streets, so be adventurous! There was always a security guard overseeing the property at night and we felt very safe returning at any hour. The elegant rooms have comfortable beds/pillows and spa-like bathrooms equipped with ample conveniences (like a powerful hair dryer – nice perk!). We stayed in the Deluxe King Suite which wasn’t exceptionally big, but it was set up well and afforded us some additional seating and space. The rooms could be cleaned better, but we had no major issues. The staff was very easy to work with from our initial contact with them in the US and they were consistently approachable throughout our stay.

NB: The location did feel far from the major sites in Sultanahmet, but I would still prefer to stay in Beyoglu/near Taksim Square….just plan ahead to be out sightseeing during the day and return to the hotel when you are ready to unwind for the evening and enjoy local shopping, dining, or a night out on the town!

I stayed a total of three nights (one at the start of my trip and two at the end of the trip) at Stories Apart Kuloglu. They were the best nights sleep that I got the entire trip. The hotel is perfectly located (though can be difficult for taxis to find), new, clean and extremely comfortable. The HOT shower was amazing - with the wooden-slat shower floor, it had the feeling of a sauna. The beds were extremely comfortable and the kitchenette was very handy. The only reason I didn't give this hotel a full 5-star rating was the friendly desk-staff tended to be inexperienced and new. Again, they were all very friendly, but only one seemed to have been working there for more than a couple of weeks & was able to give helpful suggestions or assistance. That said, I would still recommend this hotel without a qualm.

Room Tip: I would recommend splurging on a junior suite which has a balcony on which you can enjoy your mornin...

recently renovated a super hotel in downtown of Istanbul near Taksim square.
Enjoyed it very much. central location is a big plus (2 blocks from Istiklal str.), the stuff is very nice, rooms are very clean (daily service), new modern amenities in room and bathroom, illy coffee machine, full mini bar.
Shortly - Stories Apart Kuluoglu is highly recommended!

I spent 7 days in Istanbul for New Year's Eve and couldn't be more happy about my hotel.
Stories Apart is a renovated building right by Istiklal avenue and very near Taksim and Galata, so you are in the middle of all the buzz, but 2 streets apart, so the silence is incredible.
As soon as you enter the hotel you feel a bit spoilt (specially if you get one of the big rooms).
The beds are very confortable, the decoration is very nice (between simple and luxurious) and the size is not big but good enough.
The only thing i thought could be improved was the light, too low. It made it difficult to put your make up and see the effect in the bathroom for example. There was a miny kitchen as well but with nothing to cook or to eat (forks, knives, pans, plates)
The staff is very nice and there is not a place for breakfast/lunch/dinner because the options outside are incredible.
If you dare, there are places in front of the hotel where they read your future :)
