Have been wanting to visit Meze for quite some time. Well located in Pera opposite the Pera Palace Hotel, with Soho House very nearby, this is a boutique restaurant which simply offers great food.
Mezes come two a penny in Istanbul, but when you put the name on the door, expectations are raised. And they are fully justified. The mezes offered are great tasting and do offer something very different from most other restaurants. The main courses, equally, are beautifully cooked - notably the octopus, the lamb chops and the sea bass baked in paper - with sizeable portions.
The wine list is good, if a little limited with the choice of wineries. The dessert choices are also rather too limited and definitely too rich in taste. The two dishes offered are really not enough choice.
But these are relatively small criticisms. It is a very popular restaurant and for all the right reasons. Tables are close, but space is limited. Service was excellent. Booking essential - especially on Fridays and Saturdays.
