This was our first visit to Istanbul/Turkey and we were lucky enough to find this location thru TripAdvisor and all the positive reviews posted.
First off the booking process, thru an email, was fast, efficient and the preferred method to help manage cost of booking...could be a way to negotiate the rate. There was very useful pointers from the reply as to how to get to 5 Oda. The shuttle that was arranged for our arrival was reasonably costed and well worth the value.
Once at the hotel we were met and walked thru the rooms, to include the safe, internet and what the breakfast timings are, basically it is breakfast when you ask for it on the "0" floor. As a family of four with a young boy, it was great flexibility, and filling, that ensured that we had everyone covered for the morning. And all of us were happy to take a later lunch, and later dinner.
The location is down a small hill from a Metro station, Tunel station and the busy walking street of Istiklal. On the street is located 2 Starbucks and numerous cafes, restaurants, and lots of other entertainment...clubs and bars. It was centrally located with the Tunel and Metro to all the attraction.
Back to the room at night was very welcoming. The rooms are trendy and well appointed to sleep comfortably and quietly, being far enough from Istiklal Street to not hear any of the activity. If you brought back dinner or were just looking to cook some pasta for the boy, there was no problem to do so. It was noted that a microwave was missing, but not missed as we were not cooking much.
I don't normally run on with the compliments of a place, but the nicest component was the staff, from the cleaning staff, which performed their duties to a very high standard, to the staff that made the breakfast (see attached picture). The girls sat chatted about the locations to see, everything really, and were able to point out good/ bad points and possible places to grab a good meal. It is a small operation, but it makes up for it's size with outstanding service. Our family felt comfortable and safe, and my youngest said he was sad to leave. We look forward to having another chance to explore Istanbul from this Hotel.
