“Summertime visit would be best”

Botanical Garden and Zoo
Reviewed 26 May 2018

The Dushanbe Botanical Gardens was one of the stops we made last August while in the Tajik capital city. The sprawling landscaped gardens are splendid to explore with all the trees, flowers and bushes well taken care of. Lots of weddings and wedding pictures take place here as it is beautiful and some prime spots surrounded by mallorn trees to get some fabulous pictures taken. The zoo is not in the same place as the Botanical Garden but we did pay a quick visit there too and it was only okay with few animals in pens and not well set up. 5 stars for the gardens, 2.5 for the zoo.

This garden is a far cry from a true botanical garden in the sense that is does not have any significant plants from other world places.

HOWEVER!
We were there during tulip season with significant planting’s, so that would be a reason not to miss it. Otherwise, a nice stroll.

The botanical garden is unlike any other place in Dushanbe. It is perfect for long walks, with lots of greenery. Not crowded on week days. Minimal refreshment stands. Clean.

refreshing change of pace to monuments, museums, lakes and such that you see all too much of in central asia. cheap and would not recommend walking to, best to get the bus. plants and decorations inside won't compare to other botanical gardens worldwide but are quaint and its nice to see locals enjoying their days inside.

Maybe I went in a wrong period of time but botanical gardens in October- dead! really nothing to see except of trees... when in the whole city flwers are blossoming..botanical gardens are left without any of them...

Only people enjoying at that time were couples finding romantic spots in distant corners of it.

Zoo.... depressing.
