Although well known to be expensive, I generally come here when I want a special experience as It is a beautiful environment.
Yesterday afternoon came with a friend just to chill around 4.30 for a drink ad snack. The menu came promptly ad thereafter it was a question of being totally ignored by the staff ad summoning them to get any attention.

We ordered the cheese toasties and vegetable spring rolls from the snack menu... we were told the spring rolls not available..since we were veg requested the fried oyster mushroom snack... waiter not familiar and insisting no mushroom on the menu!!!! Had to educate him on the contents of the menu!!! ordered a fresh orange juice and milkshake... the drinks came relatively quickly but the snacks were very slow... when they were brought no cutlery or side plates were brought ad having waited so long we just couldn’t be bothered to chase them.. we wanted some chilly sauce ad were told very abruptly no chilly sauce but managed to get a bottle of tobacco which was essentially just dumped on the table... no service .... no finesse ... the waiters were totally oblivious to our presence and seemed to be either chatting or getting ready for dinner service....we bought two pieces of cake ad asked for the bill which also again took ages to come and when the bill was brought it was essentially dumped at our table and the waiter walked away at which point having regard to the huge amount I was about to pay I called him back, complained about the absolutely indifferent service we had received, asked him to wait rather than walk away.

However beautiful the restaurant the essence of a good restaurant is the service and the welcome given to guests. This is totally lacking. We were essentially ignored ad I felt cheated especially having regard to the extremely high rates they charge.

as you enter this place you are welcomed with a magnificent setting of old world charm.A delightful marriage of antiques, terracotta and stone floors which make you feel you are entering a private home and not a restaurant. there is a cosy bar area with lounge seating. The menu offers a wide array of mouth watering starters.I had the Tomato and mozzarella with basil and pesto.Feta & black olive ravioli, The main course consisted with a Seafood risotto ,and pan fried modha. all the dishes were fresh and had the warmth of a home made meal.they have a good selection of wines and spirits on offer worth sampling. good quality service to match the cuisine, very attentive and professional.
I had a pleasant dining experience with food of the most exquisite flavors. For this reason I highly recommend paying a visit.
I would advise to Make a reservation for lunch/ Dinner.

We ate in Gallery Café this Saturday past. We waited 1 hour for our first dish whilst the table in front of us came in later and had finished 1st course, then 2nd courses and dessert. We chase a couple of times and everytime it is coming. They said they are busy so that's the reason for the wait. I think they messed u the order. Eventually after waiting for 1 hour, our food came BUT it was cold. We tasted but left the food after a few bites because it was unappetising. We complained and ask for the bill because it completely spoilt our evening. They ask if they can cook again but we rejected and just wanted to get out. Anther table next to us also chased for their food. This restaurant has not only bad service but bad food too and they dare to charge such prices.

Was disappointed with the welcome and guest handling. The service staff pay more attention to foreigners rather than the Sri Lankan’s.

One of our group asked for a pack of cigarettes and the head waiter very rudely said that you cannot smoke in the restaurant. We were not going to smoke inside and this rudeness was not required but a polite “are you aware that this is a non-smoking restaurant” would have been sufficient.

It took about 1/2 hour for the bread basket to be put on the table.

For such a busy restaurant, why is there only one (1) toilet for each gender. Most of the time there is a queue specially for the ladies.

The tomato and mozzarella was so not good specially the mozzarella tasted really bad.

Great restaurant with amazing ambience! The menu offers great selections and everything we tried tasted fantastic. The highlight, however, is the steak filet, so tender and perfectly cooked you won't believe that you are in Sri Lanka. It is a pricey restaurant, but for special occasions, it is worth it!
