Perfectly located within a great modern complex in the center of town. Rooms are spacious and well appointed, all facilities are top notch. Fitness is a bit of a walk to the other side of the Shangri-la mall, but not an issue.
Food was good, given that standards in Mongolia are not always up to westerners expectations.
Very friendly staff throughout the whole property.
Great place for business stay.

Spent two nights at the Shangri-La, which made a long trip very bearable (LHR-Moscow-UB-Moscow-LHR in 72hrs). Atrium is very grand and the rooms are very well done. Breakfast is really good with all you usual international foods, but they have copious amounts of Mongolian butters, cheeses, honeys..the organic whipped honey was out of this world. Great bar on the 2nd floor, serves Chinggis beer and MASSIVE burgers. I'd happily go back (and probably will shortly) and a great place to be, especially when the outside temps are -30!

Structurally and ascetically this is the best hotel in UB. Staff is well trained and the rooms are at the Shangri-La standard. Unfortunately due to low occupancy they have had to cut back hours at the club floor and massage only by appointment as the Spa is not open.

The Shangri-La was perfect for my three-night business trip in Ulaanbaatar. The hotel is a newer property with an extremely convenient city center location. Traffic in Ulaanbaatar can be terrible, but the hotel is within easy walking distance of many downtown sites, and is connected to a high-end shopping mall with several restaurants.

Note that Ulaanbaatar is very polluted in the winter, and visitors may want to consider bringing a face mask for walking around outdoors.

Shangri-La is one of the most consistent hotel chains in the business, and the Ulaanbaatar property is firing on all cylinders: well-appointed rooms, top notch F&B (the breakfast spread is very good indeed), and service that goes above and beyond: When a button fell off my coat, for example, I asked a room attendant if housekeeping could repair it. She quickly pulled out a needle and thread, and re-attached the button the spot - and then took the initiative to reinforce another button that she thought was getting loose.

I don't think you could do better than the Shangri-La when visiting Ulaanbaatar.

My wife and I decided to have a staycation last week and chose the Shangri-La for our retreat. Good choice. We booked the Horizon Club deluxe room with king bed. Good choice again. When we arrived, we were taken up to the room immediately and checked in while in the room. It was nice avoiding the lobby.

The room is decently sized with a large bathroom. The bathroom has a tub as well as a generously sized walk-in shower with hand attachment and rain showerhead in the ceiling. Lovely. Toiletries are L'Occitane, which were also lovely.

Part of the room cost gets you access to the Horizon Club lounge on the 21st floor overlooking the Children's Park and Bogd Khan Mountain to the south. There are a variety of non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks available, plus some appetizers - meat, cheese, some canapes. I RECOMMEND ADDING PIMENTO OLIVES AND CRACKERS TO COMPLEMENT THE CHEESE SELECTION. Just my preference, but I suspect many people would appreciate it too. We had a drink while taking in the sunset to the south. Lovely.

The bed itself was heavenly. I slept like a baby and woke up feeling very refreshed. Breakfast was buffet at the Park Lane restaurant downstairs. The buffet was lovely - not the full Sunday buffet - but omelettes, french toast, waffles, pancakes, hashbrowns, a noodle station, a congee station/porridge station - it was very delightful.

All in all, I highly recommend this and we will stay again.
