Dropped in here for dinner one night as my hotel was just up the road. The food was exceptionally good and very cheap. It’s nothing to look at from the street but do yourself a favor and eat here especially if you are looking for s cheap meal with great food. I would happily eat here every night.

Booked a week here for February 2018. Sent two requests several days apart asking for info regarding airport pick-up and to check what payment methods they accept. Not a single reply. Booking cancelled for one that shows an interest in it's guests. I do not have faith in somewhere that cannot even reply to queries.

Basic comfortable budget accommodation owned and run by a Cambodian family.

The staff make you feel very welcome.

The local Food is of a good standard and Paula shall recommend dishes that you should try.

I chose one of the cheapest 4th floor rooms just with fan but decided to add a/c at $2 per day as April is the hottest month . Old fashioned but clean and comfortable .

Main minus point - the toilet/shower room is TINY !! and the stairs to reach the room are steep and narrow.

I would still recommend the guest house to budget travelers looking for local atmosphere.

Okay Guesthouse is a guest house located conveniently near the Royal Palace, its gardens and the riverside. Being a small guest house, it was secluded within a range of other guesthouses, khmer restaurants, bars and massage parlours. Upon entry, the feel of the guest house was homely yet dark. Corridors and doorways were small and narrow for even the average sized asian.

The concierge area was also the guest house's restaurant that serves all-day breakfast, various meals and simple drinks. Ranging from 3 USD for a Inter-Continental breakfast, to a $0.50 bottle of water, the restaurant features a mix of local and western cuisine that will feed you. The only downside to the restaurant was the speed of the food and the fact that your orders are not recorded down (where the bill has to be settled at the counter). Laundry service is charged USD $1.50/Kg. Clearly, the laundry was sent outside to be done. The clothing came back smelling great!

To head to your room, you have to request the key from the counter and then climb a couple of flights of steep steps to your level. For the first timer, the first flight of steps you see don't lead you to level 2. You'll need to keep walking straight if you want to head to the steps that will lead to levels 2, 3 and 4. The corridors of the building are small and narrow, yet one can simply imagine the horrors, in event of a smoke fire. My room, 223 was all the way inside. Despite the claustrophobic interiors, the wifi speed was still strong, ventilation was so-so only.

The room was small for a twin bed, where the beds have different widths. The mattress was comfortable but the pillow was really really high. Other than that, windows are grilled and the room was averagely clean on first sight. Amenities in the room include a Television, several magazines, bar soap, a roll of toilet paper, a dustbin and 2 towels. Overall, all was well, except that the bed didn't really have a towel. Despite being a guest house, the bed did not have a proper blanket. Instead, it looked like a decorative cloth instead of a blanket.

Water pressure, plumbing and water heater was great and easy to use. Yet, the room was 'okay'. Past midnight, the guest house's front of desk is unguarded, or perhaps guarded with sleeping staff. In the day, empty rooms are left open.

Overall, Okay Guesthouse Phnom Penh is 'okay' if you do not expect too much. With its affordable nightly rates and its close proximity to the city centre of Phnom Penh, Okay Guesthouse will remain as the perfect destination for individuals or couples that do not expect too much from a guesthouse.

Room tip: Rooms on Second Floor are the best.
