“Strictly OK place”
Reviewed 27 January 2012

Stayed here on a business trip to Dhaka for 3 days. The place is quite big amd well maintained. Please note that at the time of checkin the guys will ask for your credit card and swipe w/o your permission. They say they take security deposit (If only they could ask and swipe). I read this in one of the reviews below as well. The currency exchange rate at the hotel is very bad (Taka 71 for a $ as compared to 82 at the aiport) hence make arrangements before. Rooms are quite average. They provide good internet facilities though. For hardcore veggies, bangladesh can be a difficult place but the hotel accommodated well to my meal request. Closeby to the hotel is Bashundhara mall which is huge and ok place to hangout. Overall you feel good after going through all the traffic in the city.

Room Tip: All rooms are same.

A very large hotel, reasonably modern facilities amid the chaos of Dhaka, but don't expect too much. Rooms are not big and pretty tatty, and as soon as you step out the front door you are right in the hubub that is that city.

Six of us stayed here prior to a car trip throughout the eastern part of the country, so we wanted to rest and relax before being in a car for ten days. This was easily accomplished in a very comfortable room, nice bathroom and very nice breakfast buffet. The four star rating is based on what we saw in the rest of the country. This is not the same as a four star property in another country, but based on the extremely limited resources and infrastructure of Bangladesh, what this hotel accomplishes is a triumph. The country is struggling to increase tourism, and its greatest asset is its extremely friendly people. This property showcases what is possible with hard work, great spirit and a lot of class. There is a plaque honoring a Japanese gentleman in the hallway in front of the shops, praising his dedication to Japanese-Bangladeshi friendship and relations. Is this a Japanese-owned hotel?

We stayed here for one night on our way back to the US after visiting Bhutan for 10 days. We were looking for a 5* hotel experience as a treat. Instead, we got a Holiday Inn like experience at steep prices. We stayed in the most basic room, but wiould have expected more of it given its 5* status. Room was very small, with closet-like bathroom. Could hardly close bathroom door when sitting on the toilet. View of room was awful and depressing.

Found the service in the hotel unfriendly (especially from the concierge). General hotel ammenities (like restaurants) have more of a 5* feel.

My view of hotel may be coloured by Dhaka in general. What a challenging city to be in and so poor and depressing. I think this was one of the most depressing and ugly places I have ever visited. Feel bad for even saying it. I would avoid this place for a stopover, especially as visa rates for Americans is $ 150.00. That was a waste of money for just spending one night here.

Spent several days with group touring in and around Dhaka with hotel as our base. Accomodations ok except for messy bathroom water leak (from plumbing) which was never
corrected during my 4 day stay. Bathmats must get a real workout here. Food in
breakfast buffet adequate as was prepared "box lunch" for a travel day. Some
confusion with business center over simple matter of mailing postcards; required
multiple interactions with ill-trained staff not tolerable in a 5 or 4 star property. Not
an impressive stay and would seek an alternative if return to Dhaka.

Room Tip: check for water leaks
