Our stay at the Orchid was great. The staff was very very friendly and helpful. One of us got sick, after checkout he got a small room to wait for the rest of the group coming back from a tour without extra charge.

Absolutely enjoyable and comfortable stay at the Orchid Hotel. The location is excellent in the centre of town. My two bed room was very attractive, with such impressive and excellent facilities including a desktop computer! It was on an upper floor, and the lift was really handy. The staff really made me feel individually welcome and they were always so aware of any needs and arrangements. I was so comfortable there. Many restaurants are close by. Golden Rice was my favourite with such friendly staff and excellent food.

The highlights for me were two day trips to traditional villages near Hue which the hotel organised for me with driver, Mr Binh. They were absolutely fun, enlightening and astonishing including a delicious lunch in a fishing shack on Chuon Lagoon and visits to Phuoc Tich Village and Thanh Tien known for its paper flowers.

Mr Binh is a wonderful person, so warm and generous in the sharing of his broad ranging knowledge.

Phuoc Tich village is known for its ceramics and is quite an extraordinary place.
Nestled by the river and beautifully maintained by locals and the local municipality I was enthralled with its domestic garden house architecture, temples and the obvious care of the place by residents. Interpretation signs are provided in English.

Half a day could easily be spent here, just wandering the paved pathways through lush gardens, and strolling from mosaic temple to temple along the river.

Having such a lovely and friendly hotel made for beautiful ends to all the days I spent in Hue, and it is thoroughly recommended.

Honestly our best hotel experience in Vietnam, the service was obsoletely outstanding and very attentive, always with a smile and friendly manner, even to the point of all staff greeting you by name. The room was lovely and clean with no issues and fresh fruit on arrival and even little different snacks after each day, the breakfast was beyond amazing and takes you by surprise having know what other hotels tend to offer in there included breakfast. They happily facilitated any tours and allowed easy change of money, we had GBP which are fairly difficult to exchange but they did this with no issues and a fantastic rate. Would certainly go back if ever in Hue and recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Right at the heart of the old pedestrian district of Hue, where lots of young locals congregate on weekends, Orchid is a small boutique hotel surrounded with many restaurants and pubs. On weekends the street and surround streets are closed to traffic. There is a laundry service across the street which offers quick turnaround and charge by the weight. A small minimart next door offers snacks, beverages and alcohol.

Pros: The room I was given was comfortable with good wifi and daily fruit basket. The buffet breakfast was mix of local and continental fare with small kitchen offering local version of noodles, or egg omelette. The bathroom was well appointed with a small step next the bathtub for people who may have trouble stepping into the tub. There was instant running water both in the sink and the tub.

Cons: For the class of hotel, there were no negatives that I experienced. Unlike some of the nearby hotels, there was no restaurant on the street level.

Overall it is a very nice hotel if you do not intend to spend too much time indoors.
