There were various signs in the hotel rather randomly publicising the 117th anniversary of the hotel. The hotel rather has the feel that may be the last time anyone spent any money on it. Other reviewers have said the hotel is "tired" - that is correct. The bath/shower leaked water and kept changing temperature significantly. The public areas around the pool were very tired - dusty old unused bars. The gym has a couple of running machines, the rest of the equipment is old and needs throwing away. The inner courtyard is lovely but a pretty average breakfast. We booked a room
for 2 adults and 2 children and then were sent a confirmation email stating that there would be a double bed and one single in the room - clearly we questioned this and the hotel insisted on charging us 25 USD per night for the additional bed. I begrudgingly agreed to this via email (actually the booking agent are paying it) but even then the first thing the hotel asked me to do on arrival was sign to confirm (again) that I would cover the 50 USD.
If I came back to Hue I would stay somewhere else.

We stayed here for 3 nights on a short trip of Vietnam, and loved the stay here. Great rooms with a fantastic location for touring Hue. The staff were very helpful and couldn't do enough for you. I think the only thing which was a little disappointing was the bar, which was basically the restaurant. It would have been nice to have something a little more 'proper bar' style, as with groups or individuals sitting at tables it didn't really lend to talking with fellow travellers

Room Tip: Facing the river was lovely!

Stayed for a couple of days and the hotel is situated right on the river and is in a good location. Rooms are very large and clean however the furniture both in the rooms and the hallways looks a little tired. There is enough breakfast to choose from however the service was a little slow when waiting for tea, coffee and clearing plates. We used the spa and wouldn’t recommend. The sauna wasn’t hot like a sauna should be and there was no ambiance in the massage rooms, all you could hear when trying to relax was the motorbikes going by and horns beeping. Not the best experience. If. You are looking for a central location this hotel would suffice but needs some renovation.

We had a one night stay here and they upgraded us for our anniversary which was very thoughtful. The hotel has a wonderful history and it was interesting to read about that. Our room was large with wonderful wood floors and a very comfortable bed and bathroom. We had a delicious breakfast sitting out in a very pretty courtyard. There was a good variety of asian and western food choices and the fruit was very fresh.
Great location....highly recommended!

This is a very old hotel with lots of history. Considering its age it holds up really well. We had a HUGE room facing the river. Clean, good ac and nice bed. The check in was speedy and accurate, their courtyard restaurant is AWESOME. Do not miss breakfast there. Pool is nice. We did the spa but would not recommend it. I understand that the staff relies on tips more so than wages but my experience was they expected it more than they earned it. When finished I had the "evaluation form" handed to me and the lady tapped her pen aggressively on the tip line. After seeing my tip she made no bones about her displeasure in it. Others in our group experienced the same and my wife was furious as the entire staff hovered over her forcing her to tip in same manner. After the rest of our tour of Vietnam and Thailand this was easily the worst spa/massage by far, both in quality and experience. Found street massage better and cheaper. Just skip it here.
