we stayed a weekend and took the executive upgrade which was sensational, the staff were so helpful, they run a shuttle to district 1 so you can go shopping sight seeing etc. We have just spent 3 weeks in Asia, paying about the same per night and the Windsor was the best value for money. We will stay there again

We stayed here for 4 nights in early January. Five minutes after we were picked up at the airport by the private van arranged by the hotel, we got into an accident. Two motorcycles hit the van from behind. We were so scarred staying in the van surrounded by thousands of motorcycles waiting for another van sent by the hotel. It finally came after 30 minutes. A little bit disappointed when we first got in the hotel. It was quite remote and it didn’t seem to be a 5-star hotel as it claims. We mentioned the accident to the receptionist and we were referred to talk to the Duty Manager, Mr. Tuan. After hearing the incident, Mr. Tuan expressed his sincere apology. He sent us fruit baskets and also authorized complimentary ride to the airport when we checked out.

The room was spacious. The buffet breakfast was great. We also dined in the rooftop restaurant. The price was reasonable and the food was the best we had for our entire trip. It also provided 270 degree view of HCMC.

We were also very grateful to Mr. Dung at the Concierge Desk. Not only he provided useful information of the city, he referred us to a very reliable driver, Mr. Binh. We used his service for our trips to Cu Chi and Meikong Delta, those were most memorable. Mr. Binh speaks very good English. Unlike the taxi drivers we had used, Mr. Binh didn’t smoke in the car, didn’t yell on the phone or send messages while driving. In a place like HCMC, a reliable driver is more important than anything else.
While we were checking out, we realized Windsor Plaza is really a 5-star hotel. The location and the setting may not be the best, but the service provided by the staff is above 5-star standard. If you’re planning your trip to HCMC, my advice is: Stay at Windsor Plaza Hotel and use Mr. Binh’s car service. If you need help, ask for the manager Mr. Tuan or Mr. Dung at the Concierge Desk. And don’t forget to dine at the rooftop restaurant.

We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary here and we stayed on the Exec floor. The room was beautiful, breakfast great, both on the 25th floor and the 4th, and the service very attentive. The hotel even greeted us with an aniversary cake, roses, card and a rose petal heart on the bed. We will always remember our stay and will return.

The biggest drawback was the area. Not much interesting without transportation. We were not ready for the motor byke driving. There must be millions of bykes all in motion.

Greeted with an offer of an upgrade at $20/night. We asked what was wrong with the room we had booked and they didn't seem happy - what a wonderful welcome!
Overall hotel OK but certainly not 5 star standard. Restaurant in the morning more like a busy cafe but selection of food was good.
Shuttle bus service into town every hour was very convenient.

It is hard to be objective when the hotel immediately try to levy additional charges as soon as arrive. Although the booking was for two, they claimed it was for one and it was only after speaking to the agent that this was resolved. Also the hotel cab from the airport is substantially more than a taxi would be. Hotel a bit tired, but clean and comfortable. Pool not all that, with only room for about 10 sunbeds. Location a bit away from the centre, but only 10 - 15 minutes by cab which are cheap. About £1 for the journey. Also, my wife booked an appointment at the spa, which was clearly not made, so went elsewhere. Another complaint was that asked for a wake up call as we had an early flight. They totally forgot this, and when mentioned just met with a silly grin. Internet also very expensive, which is ridiculous when almost every other hotel is free, and free wi-fi virtually everywhere. You can however go to the roof bar and get free wi-fi there. All in all, if it can be got for a reasonable price, then fine, but personally would probably stay somewhere else next time.
