Nice location but there are a lot of others in the area. The staff was seemingly friendly but they were scoping me out. Took advantage of their only window of opportunity to pilfer $180 out of my backpack. They must have been watching me closely because the money was in a pouch concealed in one of the many zippered compartments that are in the pack.

It is located right in mid of main old market area in Hanoi. I booked the dorm which was not very neat. Bathroom was also nothing to appreciate. But not a bad place to pass a night if you are on budget and don't crave much cleanliness. Also it's not like you will not get better places to stay at the same price.

Don't do business with them, they are sloppy and don't take responsibility.

I booked a tour through Homepackpacker to Ha Giang to be the last leg of my otherwise great stay in Vietnam! This tour was only organised every Friday to Sunday, the agencies I had visited seemed to propose the same. I needed the tour to be from the 28 until the 30th as my flight home is on the 1/5 early morning.

I booked through employee L who wrote on the receipt that the tour left at 6:30 on the 28 and would be back early evening of the 30th, that's it. He didn't check anything at the time of booking.

On April 24th I received an email from L explaining that the tour can't happen on those dates because of a "bus problem". He proposed alternative dates and stays but they all either came back too late for my flight home, cost more or were to a different destination.

As they couldn't deliver what I purchased and alternatives didn't work, the simplest solution seemed to be cancel and refund. It is it's the tour operator's responsibility to ensure what they sell can happen. They wouldn't agree to that by email so I decided to stop by Hanoi on 27/4 to go to the agency to get my money back.
When I arrived L didn't want to refund in full and couldn't help "yet". He had me come back to the agency 4 times that afternoon, claiming all sorts of reasons from he had to call his tour operator to the boss was out and he doesn't have the money...
I ended up by having him write down on the receipt that I would get a full refund at 7:00 pm.
At 7 pm Luc was gone and I was left with what seemed to be the two bosses/owners which can't speak a word of English. They started typing a partial amount in the calculator which I refused, I tried using google translate to explain it was their responsibility to check a tour happens before selling it to clients.
After probably 45 minutes of postering, explaining I would go to the police, them showing signs of aggression and refusing responsibility I suggested a higher but still partial refund and they agreed. The actual exchange between the money and the receipt was very aggressive, at one point the owner grabbing my hands, threatening that everything had been recorded on video.

Though I recognise that I had no flexibility with the dates and that this weekend was a public holiday in Vietnam, it is the agency's responsibility to ensure the tours they sell are actually organised. I'll also never know if L was telling the full story to his bosses, as he was the one who should have done the initial checks.
Anyway, not getting a full refund doesn't make sense as I was in no way responsible. Them blocking my hands to ensure I don't run out of the store was also unacceptable.
By the time this got sorted, it was too late to find another trip to Ha Giang, which was to be the highlight of my trip...

Such practices bring down the image of Vietnam tourism so these type of behaviours must be reported and publicised so that hopefully travellers and agents make sure it doesn't happen again.

Therefore fellow travels, please avoid this place or at least be extremely cautious.

I arrived late at night and hadn't booked anything in advance, ended up here cause the other hostels nearby were full. I stayed in the dorm room, which has 6 beds but then there were people sleeping on mattrasses on the floor too. There was barely space for walking on the floor. There is a small ensuite bathroom in the room, which is not enough for 9ppl as when i stayed here. Bathroom and sheets were very dirty (dont even wanna know when/if they have washed/changed the sheets, i slept with my clothes on..) Air was so humid inside the room because of 9 persons showering in the small bathroom, bathroom was like walking in a swimming pool, water everywhere because there's no separate space for showering but the shower is just installed in the middle of the toilet.
I booked a tour to sapa in the reception, the tour itself was fantastic and i could easily go back whenever. The man in the reception told me that i will be picked up for the tour at 6am, i waited for 1,5 hrs and finally got picked up at 7.30. He had also booked me on the wrong bus home from sapa, i was suopposed to come home with a night bus (it also said so on my voucher) but when it was time to go home the guide found out that this bus was full and they put me on a bus 5hrs later.. It felt like nothing in this hostel really worked and i would absolutely not recommend it to anyone.

We booked (two days before) a doubleroom for one night with agoda and payed with credit card. With the booking confirmation from agoda we arrived at the hostel. They told us that the reservation was coming too late that's why they gave the room to someone else. At the end it turned out they just checked their account too late themselves. They also told us you would always pay them cash and not online.
It was really hard to find another hostel, so when you really want to book here make sure they don't ignore your booking.
