One of my favorite Japanese restaurants in Hanoi. Good quality of food and nice atmosphere. You should book your table in advance in case you have some requirements. Normally each time I eat here it costs around 600k vnd/ pax.

My wife introduced a group of us to this welcome surprise which is down a side street next to the Temple of Literature. Their set lunches are excellent quality and value and the service was good when we visited. Sit up stairs away from the noise and pollution of Hanoi.

I ordered the Tonkatsu set and was stunned by how much food came to the table. It was all delicious but for the seaweed, but that can't be helped... it is, after all, seaweed. We were very pleased to have found this place and left more than sufficiently satiated. Our service was also a little off in accordance with other reviewers. My food was initially delivered to my friend, and for a while, it appeared that her food wasn't coming at all. We had to ask for it. The staff was helpful when we asked questions, but that was as much service as we got. Still, we were very happy with our meal and will return.

Ren was my fav Japanese restaurant in Hanoi as the food served there was really fresh and tasty, and it located pretty central, but to be honest the menu was kinda limited, and the service was not really good. There were some times I got my drinks later than people who came to the restaurant after I did, and I was even catcalled here, which was the reason why I will never come back.

I've been at Ren 4/5 times because the food is quite nice but the service is for sure the worst in Hanoi. Last time I've been there they reached the lowest level: 6/7 staffs outside the restaurant completely focused on their phone, another one was at the entrance desk making to himself a fake tattoo with a marker on his arm, 3 waitress at the same time to take the order in my table (we were 2 persons), 6/7 staffs standing on the floor doing nothing but making a lot of noise and playing around, English level of the staffs almost zero, mistakes in taking order, wrong disposition of the dishes on the table, knowledge about what they were serving was zero (I asked about the name of 2 fishes we had in the dish but nobody knew it, so they had to call someone from the kitchen but one of the names she gave us, in Vietnamese, was wrong), and to finish some plastic pieces inside the seaweed salad. Really bad dinner. I liked Ren and I want give them one more chance in the next 1 or 2 months hoping they can improve a little bit.
