If you are going on the weekend book early. We booked 2 days before to get in on a Monday, the weekend is full of tours. Very entertaining show. The men and women who work the puppets are very talented
Great if you have children, the show is not to long and it moves at a good pace. It is well priced and a lot of fun

Go, do this - seats near the stage start at A then away from the stage b, c etc., 5 performances per day, get a seat down near the stage to get the full effect, super fun, only an hour but a little bit of culture

Though I can appreciate the arts... this puppet show is not for me...

Explanations of the stories are in English, Korean and Chinese. This is found on top of the stage.

Hard not to fall asleep.

Part of a Gate 1 tour this was a unique experience. In a reasonably-sized theater, the stage is a pool of water, say 15 ft by 30 ft. Musicians on both sides of the stage provide live accompaniment. Instead of one “play” there were several shorter vignettes. The puppets are controlled by long bamboo poles held under water. The puppeteers are behind a bamboo screen at the back of the stage. Hand made, highly decorative puppets include humans, fire-breathing dragons, fish, ducks, and a fox. The story lines can be understood even if you don’t speak Vietnamese. The kids will even enjoy this one. Recommended.

We booked here several days in advance - it gets booked up very quickly. It is very cheap to visit and the puppetry is amazing. It is lots of short acts showing life of farmers in Vietnam, boat races, dragons and mystical creatures as well as the legend of the turtle and sword. I would highly recommend going. The puppeteers have to train for at least 3 years to be able to do this show and even though it is in Vietnamese, you can understand it through the puppets and it is also funny in parts too!
