Well situated and roomy with attentive staff

Review of Skylark Hotel
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 26 May 2024
Rooms at the back ending in numbers 1 - 3 I'd say are larger than the front ones, but still more roomy than accommodation closer to Old Quarter. Easy to get bearings from this accommodation as there are many main roads nearby. An easy 20 minute walk to Old Quarter, Train Street, Botanic Gardens and Mausoleum. Very happy with our stay here. The staff were all very attentive and breakfast was really good. Opposite a park that is interesting with local exercise activities,

The place stands out for its location, it is located very close to old quarter yet a little away from the madness. The front desk is pretty efficient and even though we reached at 3am our check-in was very smooth and fast. The rooms are spacious, and the washrooms were pretty clean. We could spot some dust at the corners but it wasn't much.
The breakfast spread looks decent for non vegetarians, however they need to really add atleast a couple of options for vegetarians. More importantly they should start naming and classifying the dishes.
The biggest problem with their rooms are mosquitoes, it was intolerable. They need to take care of it.
The spa is broken and not in the writing state.
Their hospitality and house keeping was top notch
The hotel is rated 4 stars. The rating should be taken with a pinch of salt. If it not really 4* compared to international standards.
It is located very close to many of the nice restaurants, shopping areas, night Market and the train street.
I wish they take care of their mosquito issues

This hotel was very disappointing. It is under refurbishment but that's no excuse for the condition of the environment. It was dirty and dusty. The rooms were in poor condition with electrical wires hanging form the walls with insulating tape wound around the ends. The light fittings were broken and in our last room there were insects that could only have come from the drainage system. Hot water was non existent in many rooms or with minimal water pressure. In some rooms there was no hot water at all. Breakfast was poor quality and though the service good. All furnishings were in need of replacement or repair. The Linen is suspect and I was concerned bout tge state of the mattresses.
I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all.

This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. You can do much better, for the same price. Do not stay here. Everything that could be bad is bad, including the vibes. Staying in this hotel almost ruined our trip to Vietnam, until we realized that Hanoi has so many better options.

Room tip: Avoid this hotel

3 rooms over a period of 10 days/seperate stays. Rooms vary in size and little consistency when everyone has paid the same! Our last room had great water pressure and was hot but not so first two rooms. The hotel was noisy throughout the night - perhaps tiling in the corridor. Staff were nice and breakfast buffet was ample. Would I stay here again… no - not by choice.

Room tip: Don’t expect 5 star but if you get it.. take it
