Review of Skylark Hotel
2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 3 Feb 2024via mobile
There is no way this is a 4.5 star hotel. We stayed here as part of a package deal, 3 separate times across 12 days. Rooms all of varying quality. The last stay we had NO hot water and we’re told it was because they were busy and to leave the shower running till it came on, really?? Apart from not having a shower after a day of walking the staff were very nice and did try to rectify the water situation with no luck. Location is great, not far from night markets and train street.
Date of stay: February 2024
Room Tip: Don’t count on a hot shower
Trip type: Travelled as a couple

Location is quite good. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast was generally good, plenty of choice. Over 3 visits we stayed in 3 different rooms, all were nice, one was very nice. We would stay here again without question.

Room tip: Ask for a room with a window.

This hotel is part of a package tour. We stayed here 3 times on 3 separate occasions with the tour that we booked. They rate it as 4 star, I'm pushing it by giving 2 stars. Leaky showers, grimy bedroom floor, grimy shower and toilet bases. Missing curtains, current room has noise coming from somewhere.
BUT... the staff are very nice and courteous. Whoever gave it a 4 star rating are delusional.

Stayed recently. .room was comfortable and but coukd do with a little TLC.. bed very comfy. Breakfast was simple but fine. Close to Old Quarter but lots of walking to lake.
There is no room service but staff will order uber eats etc for you..sadly no bar either. As it was quite busy thought the bar could have been open.
Staff very friendly and helpful.

The least favorable accommodation from our trip to Vietnam was at the Skylark Hotel in Hanoi. We arrived late at night into rooms that were dirty, noisy, unhygienic, full of mould, and in disrepair. I have attached photos from this hotel. The hotel manager asked why we didn't wish to stay for the second night - I showed her the photos and then she understood. The attached photos show:
1. a hole in the floor of the hotel room,
2. the filth of the bathroom towels,
3. mould behind the bathroom vanity,
4. mould on the wall and coffee stains on the bedside table,
5. mould next to the sink in the bathroom, and
6. the bathroom window being jimmied shut with a plastic bag.

Room tip: I would not recommend anyone to stay here. It is very dirty, and in disrepair.

As a solo female traveler I can tell you the one thing that matters when picking your lodgings are the people/staff. And wow oh wow these are the best. They are professional, kind, energetic, and always available to help. I mean… they even helped me solve problems that were absolutely not their responsibility. Any worries I had they were able to help me. It was such a relief having this as my home base in Hanoi.

But if you care about more than just the amazing staff, then the air conditioning is always cool, the Wi-Fi is strong, and the bathrooms are spacious. My bed was clean, I prefer a really soft mattress but didn’t have any trouble in this bed. They have breakfast in the morning that has a variety of options for whatever you need.

Would recommend and would book again if back in the area.

Room tip: Breakfast available, no restaurant though! Hope they bring it back.
