Great part of the city, make sure you do the night markets, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Have an egg coffee in the Not Cafe, in the square overlooking the lake

for europeans this might be great some thing new and the in thing, but if you are travelling form india or especially kolkata, this place is nothing new. we see this everyday. and vietnam is probably not very different form the eastern part of our country. its a market place with lots of shops and eating outlets with the main tourist attractions nearby

The old quarter is a very busy part of Hanoi, but that is where you will find the heart of Hanoi. Beautiful hotels are next to small eateries where dishes are washed on the pavement, a city of contrasts. Street food is literally available on every street corner, small restaurants provide wonderful meals. Most streets in this area are named after what they mainly sell, silk street etc. It is noisy with all the scooters racing up and down, if this is not what you are looking for, don't stay there, but you will be missing out on a rich cultural experience.

Crazy traffic, crowded streets, vendors, diners ... Nothing prepares you for those motor bikes! and the street food ... and people in conical hats . Exciting but takes time to adjust

Chilly weather (in a good way of course). Weekend strolls by the park are not to be missed. VND currency is preferred than USD (just my observation).
