simply incredible

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 2 Jan 2013
the experience begins even before you step in. Jenny was extremely helpful over email with our mundane questions about a hairdryer, advising on tours, and booking train tickets (yes you can book them in advance with the hotel, which is essential since during peak times they run out very quickly). they also organised a transfer from the airport (note: never get on a taxi from the airport. horror stories aplenty if you google it).

i can also confirm most of the other reviews you read here: we were greeted immediately upon arrival. in fact, staff rushed out to carry our luggage in when they saw us struggle with crossing the road (yes, we are newbies with hanoi traffic on the first day). they greet us by our names, servce us juice, and chatted with us while we waited for the room. they brought us to our room and explained a few things about breakfast etc. one elevator for all guests but we never had to wait more than 2 mins for a ride. the hotel had rooms up to 7 floors i think. location of the hotel was good for exploring the old quarter. take a short taxi ride to the touristy sports e.g. mausoleum.

the room was small, but comfortable. hanoi is not exactly a very clean city so do expect the ants and insects sometimes even inside the room. not a problem as we knew what we were in for. shower was a bit difficult to manage at first, as the bath tube was "inserted" into the bathroom in an ad hoc fashion so water may spill. this is where the multiple towels come in handy. you get all your amenities e.g. shampoo, shower gel, toothbrush, comb, etc. all standard in this part of the world, even for a 2-star establishment. bed was decent and we had a good sleep. tv had so many channels (some viet, mostly international e.g. sports and news).

breakfast was simply amazing. you get a menu and choose your drink, starter, mains etc. we tried the pho, omelette etc. all good. prepare to sit in for a good 20 mins to enjoy your breakfast. not for those in a hurry as we were the first day as we were bound for a 8am bus to halong.

hotel staff were always attentive. always greeting us. always asking about our day, where we were heading and offered help/directions. on the last day, they arranged a transfer to the train station and paid for the trip. they even had a guy accompany us all the way to our train cabin! incredible. the hanoi train station was so chaotic and it was a real blessing to have him bring us in. we felt so grateful. the kindness and sincerity shown on us was exceptional. for less than 50 bucks a day, there is simply no other hotel we we will go to but this one. thanks to all the staff -- jenny who helped us over email (btw, we found out that Jenny has recently gotten married -- congrats!!), nancy who checked us in, mai who was always seen at the reception and helped us countless times, and the staff who helped us to the train station (sorry we forgot your name), and others who made the stay simply incredible.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay in Holiday Diamond Hotel (traveled with my girlfriend). From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted and served with welcoming drinks. The staffs really treated us with great hospitality, helped us with our inquiries and requests. It was not difficult to felt like home very soon. As for the room, it was clean, neat and well equipped. Breakfast was good and tasty, however, if can add in a few more varieties will be great. Location wise is convenient - basically, walking distance to night market, restaurants, Hoan Kiem Lake, etc..
We stayed for 3nights in total with this hotel and in between we spent 1night at Halong bay cruise. Our luggage was safely kept and to our surprised we were given an upgraded room when we were back from Halong bay. Thanks to Mai, Cherry, Henry, Jenny, and many others (sorry as we had forgotten the names) for making our trip joyful and comfortable.
We came across this hotel from many good reviews in tripadvisor and we were glad that we make this choice. Definitely recommended!

The Holiday Diamond Hotel is a lovely hotel, well located in the old quarter of Hanoi in a quiet side street, with a lovely restaurant - Old Town Restaurant, the backpacker area, market and night market nearby, and Hoan Kiem Lake a short walk away.

Our room, which was the Honeymoon Suite was well equipped, with a computer in the room, safe, bathrobes and complimentary tea, coffee and water.

When we arrived we were met at the airport by a hotel transfer, which was free as we booked 3 nights. Thus was convenient and took the hassle away from our arrival.

Our room was not ready for us as we arrived at 7.30am, but when we did get our room it was decorated with rose petals on the bed, and stem roses in a vase, as well as a bottle of wine and a cake - a fab start to the holiday!

Breakfast each morning was very good - options included omelette, pho, noodles, bread, pancakes, fresh fruit, yoghurts, fresh juice and coffee.

Best of all though was the service - the staff were amazing, friendly, helpful and eager to please. On arrival back from a trip to Ha Long Bay we were offered the use of a spare room to wash and prepare for our trip overnight to Hue. This was really welcome, and beyond what we would expect.

Prior to booking, communication was prompt and helpful. We also arranged a trip to Ha Long Bay, and overnight train tickets to Hue through the hotel, which made our holiday easier.

Overall, highly recommended.

Holiday Diamond hotel was a surprise and truely a gem on 5 nguyen sieu street.

Firstly, the rooms were clean and house keeping was super efficient.

Secondly, there was a wide selection of food for breakfast and they tasted good, esp the omelette :)

And most importantly, the staff, esp the girls (Mai, Hang and Do) were friendly and warm throughout our entire stay there. They were also excellent in their knowledge of the must-go-to places in Hanoi and were also able to recommend good eating and entertainment places near the hotel which were worth visiting. They even celebrated my birthday with me! I truly felt at home at Holiday Diamond Hotel.-Judith

We treated by staffs with fruits and orange juice for complimentary on upon of checking in the hotel. Our room was on third floor which was comfortable, comfy bed and a big window. It was a bit noisy in the morning but it was not a matter. Hotel breakfast was lovely with ranges of choice with local food. Otherwise, hotel reception was quite thoughtful and high knowledge, they recommended us a smart trip to Halong Bay on Aclass Opera Cruise. Some restaurants nearby was recommended by staffs were excellent. Lovely hotel and would stay again!!!

Room tip: Rooms located on high floor, a window is smart

The is by far the best hotel which I ever stayed in after many years of traveling. i am writing this review in my room 403.. The staff were simply amazing. They took care of you like a ffamily member. They are always so helpful and show genuine concern for the guests.. I can tell that this sincerity is not fake. For instance, each morning when i was lesving the hotel, they would ask me where I was going and would provide the most useful tips on directions and safety. You won’t even get such treatment ieven in brand name luxurious hotels. Returning to the hotel each day is like coming home as there is such a homely feeling where the staf even remember your name.

The location is also excellent compared to other hotels in the Old Quarter because it is located on a quieter street where there wont be thousands of motorbikes zooming past the hotel and thereby cause a noise issue. I think the location also will not be a safety concern for single ladies to walk in the night because Hanoi is a safe place anrd there are always people on the street where the hotel is located. There is even a motorbike rental shop just next door so there will be people present 24/7. It is also a 3min walk to the wholesale market and a 2min walk to the must do weekend walking street . You can also walk to the lake, the tWater Puppet Theater and the French torture prison which is the French equilvalent of the Khmer Rouge S21 prison in Phnom Penh.

The room is very clean and housekeeping top notch. It is a little on the small side but it is not an issue for me because the room is so well appointed and the bed is so comfortable. The free wifi signal is strong and there is even a computer in the room.. There are plenty of TV channels. too. The breakfast is not buffet style but cooked to order. More important it is delicious and it is a good way to start your day. They even supply a different type of fruit to your room everyday!

On Christmas eve they had held a wonderful party for their guests and had even given everyone a christmas present.

Overall, I think this hotel offers excellent value for money. I am sold and will not even consider stayig in any other hotel if I come to Hanoi again. This hotel is a gem and it is a 3 Star Hotel with a 10 Star service.

I would like to thank Cherry and the rest of the hotel staff for making my stay in Hanoi such a memorable one. Please keep up the great work. When i hear about sucess stories of Hanoi Holiday Diamond Hotel in future, I will sure remember the dedicated hotel staff who made them possible.
