Description: Giang Cafe was founded by My Father ,Mr. Nguyen Giang in 1946, when he was working as a bartender for the famous five-star Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi hotel. Although the cafe has been relocated twice, its egg coffee recipe is almost the same as in its early days, with its chief ingredients being chicken egg yolk, Vietnamese coffee powder, sweetened condensed milk, butter and cheese.

We were recommended here by our hotel and it really is great for egg coffee! My husband also tried the egg beer and it was delicious - tasting of honey! It is literally a hidden gem as you have to go down any alleyway to find you are in the cafe!

OMG. Heaven in a cup!!!!!!!!!! Although you would walk past the little laneway it's in believe me it's well known by the locals and expats. I don't understand why egg coffee is not a world wide sensation

I had an egg coffee from Cafe Giang a couple of days ago and it was DELICIOUS! Highly recommended. I'm working on learning to make it at home. You must try this while in Hanoi!

The famous egg coffee from Cafe Giang.  It is made with egg yolk, Vietnamese coffee powder, sweetened condensed milk, butter and cheese.
The coffee is brewed in a small cup before adding a well-whisked mixture of the yolk and other ingredients. The cup is placed in a bowl of hot water to keep its temperature. The foamy yellow layer on top tastes rich and sweet. The coffee flavour is not that strong. I still prefer the usual Vietnamese coffee.
