There are so many beautiful islands off of Phuket - do not bother with this one. There is sooo much wrong with it - first it's packed to the max with loads of tourists . Not the quiet kind either - the tour groups come in hundreds and with bullhorns ! There is trash everywhere in the sand and the water too. If you come with a boat tour which most do it comes with lunch buffet which is disgusting... stick to the watermelon. This " island " is really just a tourist hell hole. And it's a shame because it's not the amount you spend ( everyone paid a dif amount to get there ) but the idea of being stuck there when there are so many other places to see near phuket and other real islands to explore. Don't walk run like hell if you see coral island as an option for a tour.

The beach is quite small for the amount of people that rock up here (obviously we were part of this guilty intrusion). He noose from boats arriving is constant and there are numerous large arrivals in the form of day tours. The beach is lovely with white sand and clear water but there was little marine life and the smell of petrol was awful. As you would expect with a captive audience, the bar and restaurants were expensive. It was 200baht to hire a sunbed.

I guess we were hoping (stupidly I suppose) for a bit of peace and quiet but it seemed everyone had the same idea!

More touristy from 8 years ago. Floods of tour groups. Less fish than previous. 1200 baht for long tail ship from coast.

Thanks Pakou,
At 1,200 baht for your longtail, you must have gone from Rawai Beach and definitely went to Long Beach, the closest.
It is necessary to insist on going to Banana Beach which is a far better destination, clean, less crowded (although some peak season days are busy as expected), cleaner and well-presented facilities, fresh water for showers a beautiful restaurant and nice coral reef.

My consistent message is to pay a little extra and go to a much nicer spot. Long Beach is great for marine sports such as try scuba diving, parasailing, sea-walker, banana boat however once again the service standards staff, equipment etc are higher at Banana Beach.
Enjoy your holiday!

Been to this island before and then it was ok but a bit boring only having one bar and shop, and a few water sports
Went back in January against my better judgment to find a place that was littered with large amounts of plastic on the beach obviously the people who run the bars and restaurants on the beach don't give a toss about the rubbish as its not cleaned by the staff,it's a disgrace and would advise anyone thinking of going not to until they get their act together. This also presents a danger to the local wildlife which is becoming very scarce.DO NOT GO HERE TILL THEY CLEAN UP THEIR BEACHES.

Hi Kevin, nice of you to take the time to review.
Once again the cheap charlie trips snagged another punter and you came to Tripadvisor AFTER going to Coral Island and this was your second time too! You went to Long beach and not Banana Beach where the beach is cleaned every morning of any rubbish that washes on shore during the night. All leaves from the numerous shady trees are also swept and the entire area completely cleaned.
During the day if plastic etc washes up, the staff and even customers don't mind picking up the odd bag or plastic bottle, I hope you did your bit to help alleviate this problem?
By a poor 1 rating, there wasn't anything about your visit that was at all acceptable, try Banana Beach next time....you will be surprised!
