DINNER . they try to get you to buy 10 food tickets for 1,800 baht thats 180 baht each for dinner, whatever you do dont buy them try one night first, if you dare. you will findfood is cooked by experts, in a way that you wont eat muchI!!!!!. EXAMPLE- potatoes only quarter cooked, chicken always cold and old and something horrible added to it all other food so much spicy you cannot possibly eat it ,maybe thats to get you to order more inflated priced drinks . salad fly ridden but ok if you dont mind flies all over before you eat desert ,minimal pineapple and watermelon. sometimes sponge cake that has been squoshed so hard no cream is left in middle. tea so weak, coffee so yuk,, menu never changes.. staff so unfriendly, scouling all the time, like they are in slavery.. all in all give it a miss, go down road 150 metres to apex hotel, similar but they do change menu sometimes
.BREAKFAST. same again dont buy 10 tickets, try one first, left over from dinner last night is what you get for break fast. the worlds worst fried eggs always stone cold swamped in cold fat/grease .look at the staff putting stale bread out, do they wear gloves? of course not , dirty mongrels .salad same fly ridden as dinner, no bacon,no baked beans,, menu never changes, again food cooked by experts so you dont eat much. tea and coffee same as dinner - yuk. apex hotel has same but i have never been to there breakfast. i put up with that crap food (the absolute worst in pattaya by far) for two weeks because i bought the 10 ticket mealsI .dont have a bar of it.!!!!!!! hotel itself is good and cheap 600-1200bht a night and well run. dont book there the day before christmas, or new years eve, they slap on 1000 baht surcharge for more of that crappy food. give that food a wide birth BELIEVE ME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Room tip: book early back of old building(quieter) 600-800 baht night with bacony overlooking pool.

We stayed here about 6 years ago and felt positive overall, but everything has deteriorated since then. It looked a bit dated in 2006, but he thick carpets look positively grubby by now. Even the metal in the elevators is starting to rust. Maintenance is very important in a hotel and they have very clearly been skimping here. Dark, gloomy and unloved- the Lek has little to recommend it these days.

But even worse than the facilities were the surly staff. They could barely be bothered to smile. When we ordered room service it didn't come at all, and the laundry we were promised by 6 pm was hours late. When it finally did come, they refused to send it up to the room. They made us come downstairs and collect it ourselves. This used to seem like a reasonable mid-range option. It now seems like somewhere to avoid.

I've stayed at the LEK hotel 4 or 5 times over the last several years. It is located approx 250 meters from the Pattaya Beach. In another 500 meters south, you come to the entrance to Walking Street. The lobby is clean, and the staff are business like and pleasant. If you are looking for a new best friend, this is not the place, although the maids are very friendly and helpful. Each floor has a maid that is responsible for that floor. The hotel has a newer section and an older section. There is a manned security guard desk at the front door of the hotel.

The newer section is toward the back of the hotel near the pool and the buffet. The older section is less expensive, and a bit shabby although not terrible. Rates for the newer section is average or a bit below the average for this type of hotel in the Pattaya area. The newer section rooms are quite clean and well kept. Cable T.V., A/C, and bathtub with shower and western commode in the well lit bathrooms.

Each room in the newer section has a room safe. Just as traveling anywhere, recommend care and not showing off anything which would lead to a pickpocket or other criminal activity. Remember that this is a tourist town.

Recommend it for cost, location, and cleanliness. Oh yeah, they have a breakfast and dinner buffet which attracts expats who live in the area, and others that are staying at other hotels.

Room tip: Call ahead for reservation. Make sure that you ask for the newer section if that is what you want. Ensure that you know what the daily rate is.

We stayed in two rooms facing the pool. The rooms are dated but very cosy. Like rooms in a big old house. I really really loved LEK, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Bill H must have had a bad time but both of us (men) agreed it is a great hotel. The buffet is good, the showers over the baths are old but steaming strong and hot.

I will definitely stay at LEK again....

Room tip: Ask for pool view room in new building
