Acceptable but not great

I arrived at the hotel after a long flight and drive from Bangkok after 9pm. Firstly, there was no porter to help with luggage and the ramp for luggage is on the left hand side outside the main building, not at the front. I had booked a seaview deluxe room - when I checked in I was given a room overlooking the main entry and outdoor bar/entertainment area, with no water in sight. Suffice to say I was disappointed. Worse still when there was next to no sound proofing in the room so I felt like I was sitting in front of the band while I was in my room. As I had come to Pattaya for a conference but arrived a few days early, I just wanted to relax. So I asked the front desk for a change of room. I was kindly upgraded to their smaller sister hotel which is located across the road and much quieter with villa-like rooms (large open plan bedroom/lounge room with a huge bathroom with bath), many with their own private lap pool. I think the room finishes on this side were of a slightly higher quality. There is no wifi access on this side or clock in the guestrooms. The two hotels share some of the same facilities (private beach, spa).

General observations - the hotel and Wongamart area generally is clearly targeting the Russian tourist - most of the signage, maps, information is in Thai and Russian. Wongamart is accessible (good to have transport) to the main part of Pattaya but is relatively quiet. Due to the size of the hotel, the common facilities (private beach, swimming pool area, restaurants, lobby) can get very crowded at times, especially when coach groups arrive/depart. The beach is not the best - it's not that wide and the water looks okay but its quite polluted (especially when comparing it to beaches on the other side of Thailand). Often rubbish floating in the water so it's good to have the pool facilities but they cram so many sun lounges into the spaces around the pool - it's like a human sardine can. The beach walk from Wongamart towards Pattaya centre is quite pleasant.

Restaurant facilities were average. Breakfast was a mix of Western, continental and westernised Thai/Asian cuisine. The staff do try hard but it's far from the best service I've experienced in Thailand. Although the front desk staff at the hotel were probably the best of all the service areas.

The spa was good - good massage/spa services although expensive compared to similar offerings in other parts of Thailand.

Long Beach in Pattaya is perfect in many ways.

Its a great location as most attractions are within 15 mins away.
They have a private beach and a decent size swimming pool just off the beach.
Their Gym is well equipped and great place to get Thai massage / oil massage
in open under a huge tree or in sun as per your choice.

The property is pretty large having almost 19 floors and room size are large with power shower as well bath tubs in each room. Not to mention a great sea view from most rooms.

It has superb room service at reasonable prices with multi cuisine served by well mannered staff. Vegetarians may have very limited choice though. The breakfast is a huge spread but again not the best for vegetarians who have to settle for salads baked beans potato wedges or fruits with decent choice of breads.
In the evening if its not a high tide i highly recommend beach walks as one can see Pattaya city's skyline with beautiful lights and peaceful atmosphere. I would much rather stay here than on city center where there is no peace and privacy at such pocket friendly rates with almost like 3 star plus facilities.

If in Pattaya for the first time one should see the Alcazar show or Tiffany show, Ripley's believe it or not on Beach Rd at Mike plaza is worth every penny spent, Nong Nuch Village with the shows there is a great half a day spent with lunch , artificial floating market is just ok ok but one must take para gliding , para sailing and a visit to Coral Island.

On the 2nd beach Rd is a big mall called Big C mall which has all reasonable priced items under one roof however for high end one should go to Central which is on main Beach Rd itself.
Places to eat. There is ample choice of Indian, Thai , Sea food, Italian restaurants all over not to mention so many Russian restaurants sprung up like mushrooms due to huge influx of tourism from Russia.
My favorite restaurant is :
Peters bakery in soi 12 of in naklua
Pattaya's Best Panino's on Soi 12 in Naklua

Panino's Restaurant, which is also called Peter's Bakery, is the Looking Glass's number one rated restaurant in the Pattaya area. Its owner, Peter, is from Belgium. Not only is Peter a master chief, he also has a Thai sidekick. This place makes amazing food and all fresh so please go and relax there with a drink or fresh juice and dont ask him to hurry on his food as he likes to cook with his proper timing for each dish in perfection.
New Bombay Palace on walking street and S& P on Grand Mall building are also good to suit your palate. Hard Rock caffe is a neat hangout right outside Hard rock Hotel on beach rd itself. Excellent food too.

Pattaya is best traveled on a rented motor bike for a day or a open share van taxi which cost from 20 bhat to 40 bhat depending on distance per person. One may also hire this open van taxi on exclusive basis for a whole day.

Buying a mobile chip for Bhat 99 from any 7 - 11 store which are open 24 hours is a good idea in Thailand. It cost only 5 bhat a min and one can be connected all times. This can also be bought as at airport from AIS and Dtac mobile company in Thailand having their counter there.
To get to Pattaya from airport is pretty easy by bus or a taxi which must not cost more than Bhat 2000 all the way to your hotel all inclusive.

I always book my room through www.agoda.com as there are no hidden charges.

Enjoy in Pattaya !

Sanjay

Room tip: Go for the high floors anything above 12 is good ....

We stayed here as a part of a tour group through Affodable Asia for2 nights. Each room has a small balcony and an ocean view. The hotel is actually very nice. Room was nicely appointed, furnishings in good shape and was clean. Free wifi. Bathroom had both a shower and a soaker tub. The shower tended to spray. The hotel is big with groups and many Russians around. There are several restaurants and a breakfast buffet included, which was pretty good.

The location - it is North of main Pattaya - quick taxi ride - there are shops an restaurants within easy walking distance. The beach is nice - the pool was great - two levels, with waterfalls. Nice pool bar and spa - plus massages on the beach. Very nice.

The hotel was nice overall.

I only stayed there for a night with my family since my mother's seminar was arranged there. i didnt use any facilities at the hotel just stay in room which was comfy enough. the security was good since they use the key card system for the room. this hotel suits the family actually ,there is one king-sized bed and one small bed so i got my own bed while staying there. i dont like the bathroom, though the amenities and bathroom facility is good but one thing that this hotel is missed is the toilet shower which is needed for thais and in thailand.
the view from the balcony was very nice and that was probably the only thing i could remember about this hotel.
seafood at this hotel wasnt fresh so try to get out and find somewhere else to eat.
swimming pool. if u have kids u should look after them since the hotel decorate the swimmpool with rocks and the pool isnt that big for this hotel.
the beach wasnt that nice but u can still swim there. and its fair enough to walk along the beach.
there were lots of russian tourists staying there. probably this hotel just cooperate with the travel agent and accept russian tourists to keep this hotel staying.

Nothing remarkable about this Hotel. The rooms were not comfy and neither quiet. The location was also not good. The Buffet Breakfast lacked finesse in both presentation & preparation. No wifi. Swimming pool was good but too crowded. Staff at the reception did not know how to deal with foreigners.

The location and hotel itself is very beautiful. My friends and I have often used the health club facilities for over four years. It's very obvious that with the exception of two staff members that the health club staff despises the hotel's guests. And I do mean despise in capital letters as one cannot even get a hello back from these staff members even if hotel guests greet them first, in English, or Thai. These staff members are so obviously rude to the hotel's guests that one has to wonder about their immediate superior who'd have to be blind not to see it.
