The Chaya was a great stay in Chiang Mai.

The staff were friendly on arrival, their English wasnt prefect, but we understood easy enough. We were able to check in early also. We arranged with the hotel to collect us from the bus station for 300bht, but you could do or much cheaperwith a red truck taxi.

The lunch food was good without being exceptional. Breakfast was fine, a selection of cereals, bread, fruit, yoghurt, and you can order eggs and bacon too.

The room was lovely, a good size and clean with a mosquito net. We stayed in the pool access, which requires the steps from the balcony into the pool. A good size pool for the size of the resort.

The only negative of the hotel is the location. It's a bit of a wall to get too any decent restaurants, and the flight path of the airport is near by and the planes are very loud. Thankfully they stop at night.

This hotel is very attractive. Important to have reasonable expectations. The free breakfast is ok. The front desk staff range from excellent to ok. The location is decent. The rooms are pretty and large. The Thai massage therapists are great. The prices are quite reasonable, which makes the overall experience an excellent value.

Where to start. When we arrived the staff was very welcoming and friendly so immediately we felt great at the place.
The rooms offer a lot of space, just the tv is kind of useless as 90% of the programs are in Thai and the rest in Chinese...

So why only 3 stars? The artificial Gras floor - omg, who’s idea was that?

The furniture in the restaurant very uncomfortable. Not inviting to enjoy your breakfast at all...
Sometimes the staff gets the idea to open the umbrellas, sometimes just not and you are sitting in the hot sun.

But actually it doesn’t matter as the breakfast is that simple that you need only 15minutes. 12 minutes waiting for your eggs and 3 minutes for the actual breakfast.
The breakfast consists of the cheap toast from the supermarket, pineapple and melon, always the same cake and a small variation of eggs.
Seriously for this price of a room you should expect/serve much better!!!

Free coffee, ya ok. But cappuccino and all the other milk variation just don’t taste other than milk only.

Conclusion:
the place is too expensive for what it offers. You will find better value for the same money / same value cheaper than this place

For the management:
your staff is good. Very nice and friendly. Outside facilities could be better, same as the uncomfortable furniture.
Breakfast - my feeling your budget per person is like 40baht. Seriously, so many fruits, so much good breakfast options and u r serving cheap toast and cake. Very disappointing...
And the coffee, please do something about it.

This is a unique hotel and much better than the chain hotels, especially in Chaing Mai where you want to feel the culture. Checkin was so smooth and quick and our room is stunning! A lovely 4 poster bed and a balcony to take in the pool view! There are rooms on the ground floor that lead straight into the pool so if I’m back here again, I would stay in one of those! The staff are so helpful, especially in helping you decide on sightseeing. There’s a free shuttle bus that takes your into old town Chiang Mai, which is where most of the temples and places of interest are. It doesn’t bring you back though but it’s easy enough to get a tuk tuk or red taxi back to the hotel so that’s not an issue for us. We are really enjoying our stay and recommend it to all!

The Chaya ended up being one of our favorite stays during our honeymoon. Old school thai architectural vibe with modern amenities. We changed our room from the ground level to the pool access. So glad we did. Nothing wrong with the ground room, but no view or pool access. The pool access was so much better and fun. The doors are not very sealed so bugs will get in, so bring some bug spray and spray the perimeter of the door to help keep mosquitos out. There is a shuttle that will pretty much take you anywhere near town at any time. Just Uber or taxi back. Very convenient. They were some of the most accommodating staff and we had no problems. The offer late check-in. They held our bags for us after check-out for it later flight and took us to the airport. Wifi was pretty poor though. great coffee shop and drinks. You won't regret staying here.

Room Tip: get the pool access room!
