My girlfriend really wanted to visit an elephant sanctuary whilst we were in Chiang Mai! I found this on Klook for £37 each which was the cheapest I found anywhere, reviews on here were good so we booked it!
Defo worth it!
Picked up from our hotel at 8:15 in the morning and headed to the sanctuary, you get clothes to change into and a bag you fill with bananas to start off with. Feed the elephants on your own as elephants wander round you, watch out there will be a photographer that will later try sell your photos in nice frames for 150 baht so try get some good poses! After been on the full day we got to hike with the elephants to where you start making their medicine/food, this was fun it’s like making curry flavoured wraps but the wrap part been leaves after we had lunch ( pad Thai and pineapple ) after lunch you were in twos and had your very own elephant for a 1.5 hour hike through the jungle! It’s amazing how the elephants get up and down some of those paths!
You make lots of friends along the way too so this was also great!
You hike to a few muddy puddles where you cover yourselves and the elephants in mud before heading to the river to wash with the elephants ( you will be ready for this! ) finally you zip line over the river and head to the showers where it’s like a last supper all of your group together eating pineapple!
Don’t miss this day!
